It is widely known for its beautiful hot springs, and more recently its overbearing citizens (who, following Megumin and her teachings during her initial stay, became much more persistent and crafty in their attempted conversions of tourists). When Kazuma and his party travel here for a vacation, they kill the slime Hans, one of the Demon King’s lower generals, who had been polluting the hot springs. Aqua purifies them, and Kazuma’s team is consequently driven out of town. Despite the purification being viewed as a source of misfortune at first, it is later revealed that it wasn’t entirely a disaster — if anything, it was a blessing in disguise, as the resulting water had become extremely potent holy water. In the long term, this proves to be even more marketable, and therefore profitable, than if Alcanretia had remained a hot springs town.
The Eris Order also has a small presence in the city, owning a church far smaller then the Axis Order's. Many Eris cultists based in the city suffer from constant harassment at the hands of the Axis cultists, particularly the head priestess who often receives sexual harassment due to her beauty.
