Beginner's Banes (初(しょ)心(しん)者(しゃ)殺(ごろ)し) are felinoid beasts that have a reputation of preying on beginner adventurers.

Appearance

Beginner's Banes are catlike creatures bigger than lions or tigers, that sport black fur, golden eyes as well as a pair of long huge fangs.

Overview

Beginner's Banes are smart monsters that specialise in hunting beginner adventurers. They do so through the method of protecting tribes of Goblins and Kobolds that are the common targets of beginner adventurers, whom the Beginner's Banes ambush as they head towards what should have been an easy quest.

There are some Beginner's Banes that are herbivorous and feed on wolf berries, with these ones possessing crimson eyes.

Variations

• Mid-Class Slayer (中級者殺し): A stronger breed of Beginner's Banes that commonly sport white fur and blue eyes.
• Crescent Mid-Class Bane (ツキノワ中級者殺し): A Mid-Class Slayer that sports a crescent shaped scar.
• Veteran Slayer (上級者殺し): A powerful breed of Mid-Class Slayers that commonly sport red stripes over black fur as well as red eyes.
• Blizzard Beginner's Bane (初心者殺しブリザード): A Beginner's Bane wielding ice and snow that is spawned in the secret super tribulation room of the Island in the Sky.
• Fire Beginner's Bane (初心者殺しファイアー): A Beginner's Bane wielding fire that is spawned in the secret super tribulation room of the Island in the Sky.
• Crystal Liger (クリスタルライガー): A beast looking like a hybrid between a lion and a tiger that grows crystal over its fur, attracted by anything that shines and glitters. It is in fact a evolution of the crimson eyed Beginner's Bane.

• The Adventurer Guild's standard advice to beginner adventurers in case they run into Beginner's Banes, is to find somewhere to hide and avoid confrontation.
