Early Life

Darkness came from the highly respected Dustiness house of nobles, nicknamed the Shield of the Kingdom, and the family in charge. After Darkness' mothers died of disease due to a weak immune system on her side of the bloodline, Darkness grew up with other nobles and acted as an older sister to Iris, then later a mother figure to her cousin Sylphina. She also found herself frequently the target of uncomfortable attention from Alderp.

As Darkness got older, she began developing her perverted fetishes, so her father Ignis tried to arrange marriages for her, yet Darkness kept rejecting them by clobbering him unconscious whenever he brought the matter up, and frequently ran away to Axel where her family had to offer rewards for her whereabouts.

Despite becoming a Crusader clad in a suit of armour created by the blacksmith of the Crimson Demon Village, due to her incompetency in attacking as well as her perversions, Darkness found herself all alone even after registering as an adventurer, thus as a devout follower of the Eris Order, she went to the Eris Church every day to pray for adventuring companions.

One night, coming back from the church, Darkness wallet was stole by a thief named Chris, who wanted to draw her attention in order to call her for her party, but before Chris could finish the invitation, Darkness called the police, whom apprehended Chris. It soon became a routine until Chris could finally finish the invitation and open Darkness' heart, who joined Chris' party.

Irregular of Axel Arc

After partnering with Chris on various adventures because they failed to recruit additional members, Darkness one day heard the Guild warning adventurers about a powerful Demon sighted in the nearby forest, so she excitedly brought Chris to go search for it. However, it wasn't until the day following the defeat of the Guild's hunting squadron were they able to encounter Host, during which Darkness tanked his attacks while he got wounded before the two of them had to retreat.

Beginner Adventurer Arc

Upon reading a notice for recruiting new party members from a new adventurer rumoured to be so perverted he got the young girls in his party all slimy while questing, Darkness approached Satou Kazuma offering to join, though her perversions displayed during their first meeting made him initially reject her.

The next day while accompanying Chris as she taught Kazuma Thief skills, Darkness was awed when she witnessed Kazuma Stealing Chris' panties and demanding all of the Thief's money to buy it back. Her conviction in joining his party got further cemented upon their return to the Guild, where following her being introduced to Aqua and Megumin as well as Chris' departure, Kazuma who demonstrated Steal only to take Megumin's panties told her of all the stimulating sexual harassment female knights like her will be subject to once captured by the Devil King's Army whom he aimed to fight. During the subsequent Cabbage harvest, Darkness despite being unable to hit any of the flying vegetables still found a role as a meat shield for guarding other adventurers from hurtling Cabbages. Although her suit of armour was ruined in the harvest, Darkness was eventually accepted into Kazuma's party.

Some days later while Darkness' armour was still being refurbished, at her suggestion the party took a quest for hunting a Zombie Maker at the public cemetery to help Aqua level up. However, they instead encountered Wiz that night during her ritual of sending the Ghosts of the buried dead who couldn't afford a proper burial to the afterlife, following which she reminded Kazuma who struck a deal with the Lich that they had failed the quest.

Following the receipt of her reinforced suit of armour, Darkness returned to her family residence for a few days to train, since one of the Devil King's Generals had stationed himself near Axel and scared all the weak monsters that the party was able to handle into hiding. When Beldia later showed up at the city and cursed Megumin to die after a week for casting daily Explosions at his castle, Darkness rushed forward to take the curse in the Arch Wizard's place. She then proceeded to fantasize about all the perverted things the Dullahan would make her do in exchange for undoing the curse, and was only stopped from following a bothered Beldia back by the apologetic Kazuma. After Beldia's departure, Aqua quickly Broke the curse on Darkness with her goddess-powered Arch Priest magic and eliminated the party's need to go fight the Dullahan.

At some point during the period, Darkness upon hearing of a tentacled Roper on the loose excitedly wanted to take Kazuma in search for it so she could make it her pet, yet discovered to her dismay that it already got Exploded by Megumin. Darkness even vied for leadership of the party, only to back out once she realised the liabilities which party leaders are responsible for. And during the party's hunt for a golden bamboo, she found herself attacked from below by bamboo shoots.
(In the audio drama, it was also during this period when Darkness along with Aqua had for a short while mistook Kazuma and Megumin to have become a couple)

Accompanying her party in distantly observing Aqua while she purified the riverhead lake near Axel from within a cage, Darkness became thrilled when Brutal Alligators swarmed in biting on the cage, though she was prevented by Kazuma from charging into the lake too. As they later carted Aqua back to Axel in the cage, Darkness stood up in her defence when Kyouya Mitsurugi approached, and accordingly refused the Swordmaster's offer to join his party, despite not buying Aqua's claims of being a goddess.

When Beldia subsequently returned to Axel in fury over the continuing Explosions at his castle as well as them supposedly leaving Darkness to die, Darkness surprised the Dullahan by showing up very much alive. She then expressed envy at Aqua who got pursued by Beldia's army of Undead Knights, but following several adventurers whom she had been friends with getting cut down by Beldia, Darkness furiously attacked him, during which she still couldn't land any attacks, but fantasized in a disturbing manner as her armour was being cut up. After Kazuma's failure to Steal Beldia's sword, Darkness tackled Beldia unarmed but was soon overpowered. Just as she was about to be killed, Beldia got forced away when Kazuma along with other mages Created Water and made him dodge around. Subsequently managing to withstand the flood summoned by Aqua, Darkness struck Beldia down when his head was Stolen by Kazuma so Aqua could purify the Dullahan. As the battle concluded, Darkness began praying for the adventurers slain by Beldia, only to discover in embarrassment that they had already been Resurrected by Aqua. She later became the only one in the party happy at their great debt for damages wrought by Aqua's flood, due to the prospect of them having to take quests against strong opponents, though behind the scenes Darkness had actually petitioned her family into selling nearly all of their assets to cover most of the true reparation costs.

Some time afterwards, Darkness supported Aqua in turning over to the police a sorcerer who the Arch Priest had captured for cursing women all over Axel, only to change her mind and join the other women at the Guild to be voluntarily cursed, when it was revealed that the women had paid the sorcerer to be cursed into losing their appetite for a week so they could slim-up.

Deep Winter Arc

During the quest against Snow Sprites at the snowfield forest that Kazuma selected in hopes of it helping them survive the winter, Darkness excitedly slashed out at the Winter Shogun when it appeared to avenge the little sprites of winter, only for her sword to be instantly severed. Despite Aqua advising the party to dogeza at the generous spirit for mercy, the proud Crusader stubbornly refused to beg a monster for her life. This prompted Kazuma, who had been following Aqua's advice, to jump up and force Darkness' head down, which resulted in his decapitation.

In the one-day party swap between Kazuma and Dust, Darkness first surprised their temporary member by heading out on a quest with neither weapons nor armour, then made him speechless by admitting her inability to hit targets and displaying indifference to Megumin's Explosion. Following the appearance of a Beginner's Bane, Darkness grabbed Dust's sword and futilely attacked the monster while enjoying its beastial attacks until she lost consciousness. She was later carried by Aqua back to the Guild, where they waited for Kazuma's return so they could revert to their original parties.

After Kazuma's decision to venture into Keele's Dungeon alone, Darkness whose sword was still being repaired simply escorted him to its entrance, where she and Megumin waited until his and Aqua's return.

When Kazuma and Aqua took up a request to take care of a Ghost problem at an empty mansion in place of Wiz, she accompanied the party as they moved into the property. That night as possessed dolls roamed the mansion, she excitedly went out to hunt for them, before meeting up with Aqua to save Kazuma and Megumin who had been fleeing all about.

At some point during the period, Darkness (in the audio drama) joined her party on a simple delivery quest into the mountains, where she failed to save Kazuma from falling to his death due to a landslide, and had to apologise to the homeowner whose roof was damaged by when his body fell into it.

After Aqua was hired by Abram to solve a Ghost problem at his mansion only to discover its identity to be his recently deceased father Pickles, in order to fulfill the wishes of Pickles so he could pass onto the afterlife, Darkness hugged a stuffed toy possessed by the Ghost who turned out to be in love with her mother (while she dressed up as a maid in the audio drama).

Upon the Guild asking her to investigate the Powerful Messenger that was described to be a tentacle monster, Darkness pestered her party into heading for the forest temple where it was sighted, only to find out that the actual Powerful Messenger looked so revolting even she couldn't stomach it. As the party fled before Megumin blasted at it with Explosion, Darkness blocked something cast at them by the Powerful Messenger, which after she returned to the mansion with the Guild's rewards was revealed to be a slow-acting curse that made her so weak even Megumin could overpower her. Despite Aqua using Sacred Break Spell, the nature of the curse and the power of the caster made Darkness remain weak for the several days following, and forced her to seek the others' help the next day with anything that required even a little strength to perform. When going to the Guild for reporting about the curse, Darkness was initially teased by the other adventurers who were happy at finally beating her in strength, though they soon grew protective of her. Darkness proceeded to gain the adoration of her party members when she grew so weak that she needed to be spoon fed, but soon after the wounded Powerful Messenger made its way to the outskirts of Axel, Darkness recovered her strength once the curse was lifted due to Wiz defeating the earth spirit.

Darkness also joined the party in accompanying Wiz on her request to eliminate Ghouls and her subsequent contest against Wolfgang over who is the "King of Undead", before jumping in to save Wiz from being opportunistically purified by Aqua.

When the party set out on a quest against a White Tiger only to run into a Beginner's Bane, Darkness was tricked into staying behind while her party members ran, before she was slapped away by the White Tiger. She later gave Aqua some assistance with raising the tiger's cub, as well as accompany the party in sending it back.

Waiting at a lake alongside Aqua when Kazuma one day brought Megumin over so the Crimson Demon could help the fishermen with their catch, Darkness learned that fishing was performed by having Explosion cast into the water, then after the lake and most of the fish were blown away, comforted Kazuma by informing him of enough intact fish left for them to claim rewards. Afterwards hearing about a quest to hunt a feral Stealth Octopus that originally escaped from a ranch, the Crusader who excitedly accepted it refused to wear armour as she led the party into the forest. Turning down the wasteful request from Aqua that entailed the Arch Priest eating up all the tasty tentacles, Darkness eagerly ran towards the grove Kazuma detected their quarry to be camouflaging at, and just as she had hoped became caught in its tentacles which began slithering underneath her clothes, until the fibre started getting digested much to the Crusader's embarrassment. Frantically calling for the observing Kazuma to stop enjoying the show, she was eventually cut free by Aqua.

On a day the party took a break from questing, Darkness walking around town with Aqua suddenly found herself held hostage at knifepoint by a hooded figure who also had Megumin's cat in his hands. Although disappointed over the small size of the knife when Kazuma and Megumin arrived on scene, she anyhow began fantasizing the types of ravishment the figure will enact upon her, until Kazuma ruined the fun by Stealing away the knife. She eventually turned serious when the figure revealed himself to be a Demon, though him calling her face thick for tanking his attack sent Darkness into depression. Next pushed away because the Demon tried using Megumin's cat as hostage, Darkness cheered Megumin on for vanquishing him with an Explosion.

During the night when Kazuma went to bed early instead of enjoying crab pot sent by her family with bubbly alongside his party members, Darkness undressed to take a bath, only to find the bathroom already occupied by a strangely assertive Kazuma, who to her embarrassment forced her into helping him wash. Upon Aqua and Megumin capturing a Succubus attempting to break in, Darkness realised how Kazuma must have been Charmed by the low-ranking Demon, though she didn't pull back from beating him up when he covered for the Succubus' escape. She was shamed again the following day because Kazuma turned out to remember everything that had happened in the bathroom.

When the Mobile Fortress Destroyer advanced onto Axel, despite Aqua and Megumin already packed up to flee, Darkness insisted on attending the Guild meeting for formulating the adventurers' response, and during the preparations of defences admitted to Kazuma her duty to protect the city. As the Destroyer approached, Darkness stayed immobile even as the fortress skidded to a halt right in front of her. Following the Destroyer broadcasting its imminent self-detonation, Darkness stayed outside to take care of the spent Megumin (whereas in the anime, she excitedly charged into the fortress to better enjoy its detonation, making the other adventurers who were initially fleeing think that she was bravely trying to stop the self-detonation, and inspired them to storm the Destroyer).

Late Winter Arc

With Sena coming to arrest Kazuma for treason because the Destroyer's Coronatite core obliterated Alderp's mansion, Darkness attempted to become the one who would endure torturous interrogation by naming herself the one responsible. She later helped carry the immobile Megumin back as part of Aqua's plan to distract the guards with Explosions outside the city so she could bust Kazuma out of jail.

Then during the trial where Kazuma's party members acted as his defence attorneys, despite their practise mock trials gearing them up for nothing but how to shout "Objection", Darkness kept a low profile until the judge and Sena strangely followed Alderp's directive into sentencing Kazuma to death, at which she presented her family crest and promised to do anything for Alderp so that the trial would get postponed. She accordingly left her party behind and headed off to Alderp for hearing out his terms.

Darkness soon discovered that Alderp had wanted her to marry his son Walther, a proposal that despite her disliking was very much welcomed by Ignis. For the next several days, Darkness tried dissuading her father but to no avail, thus she returned to tell her party about the arranged marriage, which she wanted their help to ruin. She later followed Kazuma's plan of him and Aqua dressing up as a butler and a maid of the Dustiness household in order to accompany her on the upcoming interview marriage with Walther, so they can ruin it without tarnishing the name of her house. However, Kazuma throughout the interview between Walther and the Dustinesses repeatedly intervened whenever Darkness tried saying something to ruin the scene, citing that it would look bad for the Dustiness household. Darkness finally got her chance when during the walk with Walther in the gardens, she ripped up her dress and outright challenged Walther to a duel at the dojo. After many rounds of missing every one of her attacks but tanking all of Walther's while Kazuma and Aqua looked on, she gained the admiration of Walther who gave up upon witnessing her fortitude. Darkness subsequently ordered Kazuma to a round with her as a demonstration of how the scum she prefers fight, and accordingly got drenched by the Water he Created before getting Freezed. She however recovered before twisting his arm when they were armlocked while he desperately Drained her, up until she allowed herself to be Drained unconscious when Kazuma promised to do something unspeakably embarrassing to her. Waking up to find Kazuma as well as Aqua in a meeting with Ignis and Walther, Darkness proceeded to make sure the marriage got ruined by lying that she was already pregnant with Kazuma's child, much to Ignis' joy and Aqua's shock, though following Walther's departure it took her and Kazuma a long while to explain the truth.

Accompanying Kazuma to clean up the magic circle that Aqua left in Keele's chamber before it makes Sena think that they're responsible for the mysterious monsters that were emerging from Keele's Dungeon, Darkness who found herself capable of resisting the self-detonations of the Vanir Dolls took point as Kazuma followed her inside, where she was delighted at finally being able to hit targets when the dolls threw themselves into the path of her wild swings. The two of them then ran into Vanir as he fashioned the dolls in front of Keele's chamber, following which the all-seeing Devil exposed their embarrassing thoughts and explained his dream. Darkness then attacked Vanir when he declared his intent to kill Aqua, and despite cutting up his body fashioned from clay, the mask which made up his true form attached onto her face and allowed Vanir to possess her body. Contrary to Vanir and Kazuma's expectations, though, Darkness felt only pleasure at her body being taken, and kept interrupting Vanir's dialogue much to his irritation. After Kazuma trapped Vanir inside Darkness by slapping an evil-sealing sticker onto the mask, Darkness followed him to seek Aqua who could exorcise the Devil, all the while enduring the overbearing pain from resisting Vanir. Yet upon nearing the exit, Vanir was able to take complete control of Darkness' body, which although was unharmed by the Sacred Exorcism Aqua blasted at them when they emerged outside, had also served as a shield to protect Vanir from the full effects of the holy magic. Vanir then fully utilised Darkness' body for dodging Aqua's magic and defeating the other adventurers hired by Sena, giving Darkness some satisfaction from their vituperations. But when Aqua got backed into a corner, Kazuma removed the evil-sealing sticker so Darkness could remove the mask, which she found herself unable to do due to Vanir's resistance. Darkness thus told Megumin to cast Explosion on her, so that Vanir who refused to be exorcised by Aqua would be destroyed.

A week following Aqua fully Healing Darkness when the party found her, (a possible time interval for Kazuma to have put on a wish-granting choker from Wiz's Shop that slowly chokes him to death unless his wish is granted, and forced Darkness to perform push-ups as well as other debasing things he requested, only to kill him after being enraged by his confession), Darkness became gravely embarrassed when the other adventurers at the Guild all called her "Lalatina" thanks to Kazuma. Then subsequent to the party being declared by Sena to be free of treason charges and debt as well as receive a huge reward for their exploits, Darkness was specially gifted with a new set of armour. She later accompanied Kazuma to Wiz's Shop in order to tell the shopkeeper of Vanir's demise, only to discover that the Duke of Hell had reincarnated into a second life that now works for the Lich.

At some point during the period, Darkness tried to take up knitting as part of her bridal training, though without much success, and later gave up when she saw how even Aqua knitted better than her. She also dragged Kazuma to help slap her awake when she attempted to communicate with a lost Siren in the forest, yet upon pulling out the earplugs from the sea spirit, all three of them were put to sleep by the startled Siren's song. In addition, when Kazuma reported experiencing serious stomach pains after Darkness returned from a girls meeting, she suggested the possibility of him ingesting some kind of parasitic monster, and later restrained a panicked Kazuma as he tried to flee from the hospital. Darkness furthermore tried to take a quest against Giant Toads, but had to give up upon Luna's dissuasions because her party members and other adventurers at the Guild refrained from teaming up with her, following which the Crusader lonesomely gazed at the city fountain and strolled around suspicious shops in back alleys before returning home. Then one time when dining at the Guild with her party and Dust, Darkness after dismissing another of Aqua's tirades about being a goddess noticed the nearby Chris choking on her drink for some reason, then had to hold back the Archpriest who attempted to attack Kazuma.
(In the audio drama, it was also during this period when Darkness went to help Wiz with the quest against Ghouls)

Following a series of explosions around Axel which the police accused Megumin of, Darkness took some of her house guards (or Chris in the audio drama) to investigate the area themselves. After searching for several days, they revealed to Megumin, Kazuma and Lorielina as well as other adventurers that the explosions were caused by Mine Mushrooms detonating upon the influence of Megumin's Explosions.

With Kazuma becoming lethargic, Darkenss went with Chris on a quest against Goblins after chatting with a passing Dust, and accordingly allowed herself be Binded by her friend so she could have her clothes torn by the Goblins and body ravaged by their thick sticks. Getting freed subsequent to Chris defeating all of the Goblins, Darkness reiterated the type of scummy men preferred by her. A few days later, she was cornered into an alleyway by a group of masked men trying to kidnap her, and fantasized how she would be humiliated, to the point her would-be kidnappers wondered if they had cornered some pervert looking like the target heiress. Following Dust appearing to her rescue and the men scared off by Yunyun and Vanir, she was asked by Yunyun to date Dust who was said to like her. Darkness though turned it down because of concern over her party, and proceeded to give advice for Dust to become popular with women, only to be irately called a muscular macho woman, which saw her going after Dust in rage.

At Kazuma's goading, Darkness for a day worked as a waitress at the Succubus Cafe where she served the Ruffian while dressed in Succubi attire, all for the purpose of training herself to become popular with men, despite not knowing the exact nature of the Cafe and finding the Loli Succubus looking familiar.

When Alderp refused to open his coffers to reimburse his subjects living in the countryside where the Destroyer rampaged and forced them into seeking the Dustinesses for aid, Darkness under the influence of Maxwell loaned 2 billion eris from Alderp to help them, on the condition that she would repay with her body should something befall the head of her household.

Early Spring Arc

As spring approached, Darkness with Megumin tried to drag Kazuma out of the warm kotatsu he shut himself into and set Aqua a bad example, before Kazuma agreed to take a quest against Lizard Runners. Despite Darkness desperately holding back the charging reptiles, the quest still ended with Kazuma dying, followed by the unspeakable that mortified her being committed upon his body.

The following day as Vanir brought along some samples of the goods Kazuma made prototypes of, Darkness explained to Kazuma how the Guild decided to let the Devil be for the time being while playing with balloons that were actually condoms. She then told Megumin upon her returned a few days later how come Kazuma and Aqua began acting like weird wealthy without the motivation to take quests nor personally fight the Devil King, before fanaticizing about Kazuma turning into a useless man. When the party set out the next day on their vacation to Arcanletia, Darkness was Drained by Kazuma to revive the Wiz he had brought along, following which she enjoyed their caravan trip along the highway to the city of water. Yet on the way, Darkness' hard body attracted a flock of Running Hawkites, then as the caravan stopped to let the adventurers guarding it to repel the monsters, she leapt into the Bind cast by one of them before enjoying how the Running Hawkites jumped over her bound body in a display that embarrassed Kazuma. With the flock turning back for another run, Darkness told Kazuma to tie her to their carriage so she could be dragged along as they raced towards a nearby cave while Aqua Healed her injuries, subsequent to which Kazuma hurled her towards the cave entrance so the Running Hawkites would after jumping over her run into the trap. During the caravan's camp that night, Darkness had her armour fixed by Kazuma, and in the ensuing Zombie attack had to take care of Wiz who got caught in Aqua's Turn Undead.

Following the gang escaping the encirclement by followers of the Axis Order upon their arrival at Arcanletia and them checking in at the inn, Darkness accompanied Kazuma to buy souvenirs. However, they soon got continously hounded by Axis followers trying convert them through all sorts of crazy con tactics, and only managed to get away when Darkness showed her talisman of the Eris Order, though this earned her the ire of many townsfolk who insulted, harassed, and even attacked her, much to the Crusader's delight. After Darkness and Kazuma picked up Megumin from the Axis main cathedral so they could go back to the inn, she took Megumin to enjoy the hot springs where they discussed about Kazuma, before punching the said eavesdropping pervert through the fence separating the women and mixed baths, sparking a battle in which she threw things at Kazuma.

At breakfast the next morning, Darkness got pressured by Aqua to help her save the city from what she claimed was a conspiracy by the Devil King's army to contaminate the hot springs and bankrupt the Axis Order. She accordingly went around asking without luck for clues about the contaminated springs, before rejoining Aqua when she went preaching to her followers about the contamination threat, though the Eris Crusader wasn't able to help much when the crowd turned disbelieving and hostile (and in the anime she joined the others when the gang had to escape the inn that night because of a mob of Axis followers coming to lynch Aqua).

The following morning, when it was revealed that the prime poisoning suspect the party managed to pinpoint had actually blurted out his plot some days ago when Kazuma was eavesdropping, only to have the cowardy Adventurer keep it under wraps in an attempt to avoid trouble, Darkness and Megumin furiously helped Aqua gang up on him. Later at the local Adventurer Guild, Darkness' noble status was used by her party members to persuade the employees into looking out for the culprit, subsequent to which they had a discussion of nobility and their relationship with her as they made their way back to the inn.

On the gang's way up the next day to the main spring situated in the mountains behind the main cathedral, Darkness' noble status was used again to get past the Eris followers guarding the gate leading there. Subsequent to Wiz expressing surprise at Darkness' identity, the Crusader was cajoled into scouting ahead, where she came across the dissolved remains of a Beginner's Bane. But following the gang discovering Hans in the act of poisoning the source reservoir, Darkness had to chase after a Kazuma fleeing in panic after he discovered how the Deadly Poison Slime was actually a deadly adversary in addition to being a Devil King's General, before she was forced to follow Aqua who turned back to go fight. Yet subsequent to Hans successfully poisoning the source reservoir and then breaking free from the ice Wiz trapped him in by reverting to his true monstrous form, Darkness took off her armour and ran around to lure the Deadly Poison Slime which even she couldn't keep as a pet away from her companions. This gave Kazuma the idea of having Darkness race them to safety once Megumin casted Explosion on Hans, before shielding the gang from the poisonous slime splattering all over the area, so that Wiz and Aqua could respectively freeze and purify the small bits of Hans afterwards, though because of Aqua the gang got chased out of the city the next day. And after returning to the party's mansion, Darkness proceeded to make tea for Kazuma before Yunyun came knocking.
(In the anime, the gang headed towards the main spring at night while being pursued by the lynch mob, who changed into believing Aqua before joining the fight when they saw Hans reverting to his monstrous true form, though they still swept Darkness around like rubbish. Following Kazuma's death and Hans being blown up, Darkness tried to defend Wiz when the reduced Hans approached to devour them until Aqua intervened, and subsequent to the party's return to Axel spent a long period there before heading to the Crimson Demon Village)

Accompanying Kazuma to Japan with the others through a magic item that takes people to the other world for 12 hours but wipes their memories upon return, Darkness was astonished by the trucks she had took to be small Destroyers, before she got fascinated by fast food and brought to Akihabara by train, which excited her despite having to help Aqua when her hagoromo got caught in the train door. Later surprised by a talking vending machine that Aqua bought juice from, Darkness was handed a business card from scouts for pornography actresses, and got thoroughly embarrassed once hearing Kazuma explain what it was about. She proceeded to cheer up when brought to a gaming centre, though she made a scene by irritatedly smacking a medal game machine. After nightfall, Darkness and the others followed Kazuma back to his home, but while waiting outside as instructed by Kazuma before he went inside, the trio found themselves questioned by police who thought Darkness was a foreign prostitute and began arguing with her. The party was at that moment transported back to the KonoSuba World as the effects of the magic item ran out, leaving them with no recollection of the events that transpired.

At some point during the period, Darkness participated in a grand party celebrating her birthday, though she didn't invite her party members in fear of them causing trouble.
(In the audio drama, Darkness went to take a bath only to find Kazuma Lurking in the bathtub busily writing a diary, then along with the other girls tore up Kazuma's diary because they didn't like how he had portrayed them)

The day after the vegetable selling contest between Aqua and Vanir, Darkness told the party of nightmares emerging amongst male adventurers sleeping at the city's inns, then persuaded Aqua to leave Vanir alone.

Following Kazuma's encounter with Zatu Ozuma and his party, Darkness got teased about "Larkless" sounding more like a Crusader's name than "Darkness". When Ozuma and party came knocking the next morning and called out Kazuma for his lies, Darkness tried to restrain Megumin from charging out, but fell into tears when she got taunted by Larkless and her companions for having an evil-sounding name. Two weeks later, Darkness accompanied Kazuma to the Guild where Ozuma's party had became the star, when reports came in about White Wolves appearing close to the city. As everybody all went to fight the pack, Darkness surprised Ozuma's party by declaring her ability to shield them from Explosion, before she lured the White Wolves into a bunch with Decoy for Megumin to wipe them all out, though following the cleansing of the pack, she and her party had to apologise to Ozuma's party upon hearing of how their misdeeds caused trouble to the similarly named party.

As storm season approached, Darkness helped Kazuma persuade Megumin into joining the quest against the Great Spirit of the Storm. When all the adventurers headed towards the lake where the Great Spirit of the Storm manifested, Darkness drew a lot of male attention with her one-piece swimsuit. She later tried to attract the spirit's attacks despite her inability to swim, and stood to shield the others against the blast of the Explosions unleashed upon it.

Possibly around that time period, Darkness becoming concerned over Chris hanging around various unsavoury people asked Kazuma and Aqua to accompany her with trailing the Thief, and although through the aid of Kazuma's Lurk they were able to witness her meeting several seedy-looking individuals, it turned out that those people were legitimate grocers from whom Chris bought ingredients for making a birthday cake, much to Darkness' embarrassment. On another day, she was amazed at Aqua being contracted through the Guild for a job, and followed her to the farmland area where she set up a ritual for performing her rainmaking request, bringing with her a bottle of expensive wine demanded by Aqua as an offering to the spirits of rain, before having to flee from the ensuing flood.

Darkness took it upon herself to invite not just Wiz but also Yunyun to a party at the mansion for celebrating the defeat of Hans, and joined the girls' pajama party held in Megumin's room, where she toasted with Wiz but still forbade the room's owner to drink bubbly, before mocking Kazuma who had attempted to barge in when he claimed to have a lot of fans at the Guild. The Crusader some time afterwards became excited when Kazuma accepted a quest from Luna in the presence of Ran to some ancient ruins for fighting against a Titan Golem, which after heavily punching her repeatedly fingered her breasts, much to her pleasure, before she got flicked away. Later following on another quest for searching the underground facility of the ruins, Darkness helped sift through some old Japanese commodities they discovered, subsequent to which she listened to Aqua reciting the diary of the Head Researcher and went through the activation of the Pretty Girl Golem. Back at the Guild that night, she observed in amusement with the other girls how Kazuma discovered that Ran was paid to pose as his fan.

Cursed Ring Arc

On the morning after Kazuma picked the cursed ring which became stuck to his finger due to a curse that also forced him into Stealing somebody's panties, Darkness accompanied the party to Wiz's Shop for asking about it. After hearing Vanir explain about the ring's history as well as how it forces its wearing to steal panties upon every full moon, she agreed to work for the 30 million eris fee he had charged for its removal, which she and the other girls in addition to Wiz, Yunyun, and Chris later held a meeting to discuss.

After Kazuma still stole a panty despite all the girls staying somewhere else for the night, Darkness later complied with Kazuma's idea of earning Vanir's curse removal fee by working at his maid café dressed up as a maid server, where her excited humiliation attracted customers, though circumstances soon forced it to close.

Upon Kazuma hearing about the Sports Festival held by the Guild that offers a stupendous prize enough to pay the fee, Darkness explained to the gang about its new rules, which involve a swimming contest at the riverhead lake. She consequently joined the team's swimming training at the lake, though in the process her swimsuit mysteriously came off. On the day of the Sports Festival, Darkness during the race across the grasslands inadvertently inspired rival adventurers into fighting off Giant Toads, though the subsequent discovery of Brutal Alligator hatchlings in the lake snapping at the competitors' swimsuits ended up getting the festival cancelled.

Following a discussion during breakfast among the girls over what to do about Kazuma after he Stole panties again, Darkness at him suggesting selling light novels proposed writing about the maniac theme of a female knight being captured and tortured by the Devil King, which spurred Kazuma into scrapping the project, before she had to restrain a rabid Aqua causing a ruckus at Wiz's Shop. With Kazuma settling for making money through starting a singer idol unit, Darkness following idol training was assigned to be the cool member of the unit named "Shiny Blue", though it was soon forced to disband due to circumstances.

The morning following the night something powerful tried to break into the mansion only to be repelled by the magic barrier Aqua had erected around it, Darkness and the others tailed Aqua who charged into Wiz's Shop to confront Vanir, where she restrained the rabid goddess plus a piqued Megumin. Then despite declining to accompany Kazuma on a quest to seek stolen antiques in a cave used by thieves as a hideout and forcing him to go with Chris and Yunyun instead, she still followed Aqua into trailing him along with Megumin and Wiz, which resulted in them too falling through a trapdoor into a deeper part of the cave system. She later joined the whole gang as they tried to sneak past the Skull Dragon sleeping by the exit only to have it woken by the ring, though they managed to make it out.

After failing to retrieve the panties Kazuma had been forced by the curse to Steal at the next full moon, Darkness agreed to help earn the fee through working odd jobs. Several days later when the Skull Dragon was seen making its way towards Axel and had a bounty put onto it, Kazuma after hearing from Vanir of its origins assigned Darkness to cover for Yunyun while she held the Skull Dragon in place as well as shield her and Chris from the blast of the Explosions casted for weakening it. Subsequent to the ensuing deal made with the mage's soul in the Skull Dragon by offering up the Stolen panties and its purification by Aqua, the consequently enraged Darkness took part in the beating that sent Kazuma to Eris and forced Aqua to Resurrect him again.

Following the series of possible rewards and penalties for Kazuma depending on his performance in the "Panty Judgments", Darkness might become concerned over Kazuma acting particularly dejected, so following a walk with him around Axel, she discussed the matter with Aqua and Megumin, and was advised to act more intimately with him during their everyday activities. Kazuma though proceeded to make assertive requests for her to dress and feed him, before they went out walking in toad country, where subsequent to pushing Kazuma out of a Giant Toad's way Darkness instead got eaten, and later when frolicking with the other girls in the mansion's bathroom caught Kazuma Lurking about, though she still agreed to let him cozy up to her that night. The following day, she explained to Kazuma, who had been misinterpreting her actions as signs of love, how she was just trying to cheer him up, after which she apologised despite getting teased by him, and then she either enjoyed being ravaged by monsters on another quest or cosplayed as a cat for Kazuma's entertainment.

At some point during that period, Kazuma died again during one of their quests, and following Resurrection he shut himself up inside the kotatsu so his party members won't get him killed again. After the girls failed to drive him out, Darkness as part of their plan joined Kazuma in the kotatsu to laze around, and succeeded in making him go on quests again once he realised there'll be nobody to earn food and money.

Magical Stones Arc

After Darkness' boardgame match with Megumin got overturned by Kazuma, she was shown by Aqua a shard of glassic stone the goddess picked up when out for a walk, and followed the others to Wiz's Shop for assessing the shard, where Vanir upon inspection declared the shard to be part of a larger magical stone, which he offered to buy for millions of eris.

Accompanying Aqua with the others to the neighbourhood ruins where she found the shard, the party met Yunyun who popped out from hiding to challenge Megumin only to be defeated again. After the party defeated a Muncher-Muncher at the deepest part of the ruins, Darkness helped Kazuma unearth the magical stone, which upon having Aqua's shard fitted into a depression on it began glowing with more magical power as well as display a kanji. Back at Wiz's Shop where Aqua and Megumin began having disputes over selling the stone, Darkness suggested the party head to the Guild for discussing the matter, before becoming overjoyed to hear from Chris that there were more of those Devil-Sealing Magical Stones out there.

While asking around for clues to the magical stones at the Guild the next day, Wiz brought the party a magical stone detection device commissioned by Vanir that pointed them to Keele's Dungeon where Luna had offered them an Undead subjugation quest at. Upon reaching the dungeon entrance, Darkness was about to head inside with Aqua when she got caught in the Explosion casted by Megumin. Later as they searched the dungeon, in the process running into Mitsurugi who agreed to join in their hunt for the magical stones, the party fought unnaturally numerous waves of Undead after advancing into a secret passageway beyond Keele's chamber, where they were then faced by the Devil Giger leading the Undead attracted to the dungeon by the magical stone. Subsequent to defeating the Devil Giger and the discovery of the magical stone, the party returned to the Guild for hearing more about the magical stones from Chris who offered to join their search.

Arriving at the Temple of Everlasting Summer where the next magical stone was located, Darkness became elated at the scorching heat of the area as well as excited with the Bildnibis guarding the magical stone in the temple's depths, before helping defeat the spirit of fire to retrieve their objective.

Darkness then followed the party to the underground research facility of the Head Researcher, where they ran into Ran at the ancient ruins above ground, and allowed her to join them on their adventure. Making their way down to the lowest level, the party fought Gun Falcon DX and later Gun Falcon BX, before Darkness discovered the magical stone that Aqua activated on touch. That night at the mansion, Darkness brought out some crab sent from her family for a crab pot with her party members.

Trudging through the snowfield forest where the next magical stone was hidden, Darkness unlike the others shrugged off the cold. Upon reaching the depths of a snowy dungeon, Darkness became elated at the appearance of a Dera Mammo at which she recklessly charged towards. Subsequent to the mammoth's defeat, the magical stone got blown out from the ice, and all their companions at Axel were accordingly invited to the hot springs that gushed out. Returning to the mansion, Darkness noticed on the detection device how the next magical stone appeared to be located in a dungeon under lockdown.

Following the party the next day when Luna granted them special permission to explore the Mystery Tower, Darkness and her party members along with Wiz made their way up the tower. As the party arrived at the midway point, Darkness glimpsed somebody looking like the deceased Beldia, sparking a discussion about them running into all kinds of people and monsters they had met before. Accordingly fighting past a Giant Toad Ghost as well as other monsters, the party was faced on the top floor with the physical illusions of Beldia and Hans, who thanks to Kazuma's instructions they were able to defeat. Following Hans' failed attempt to kill Aqua as part of his final act, Beldia rolled his head to peek up some girls' skirts before being stomped from existence. Aqua later picked up the magical stone powering the tower, causing the tower to begin disappearing, at which Kazuma used her hagoromo as a parachute for everyone until Wiz Teleported them all to safety.

Shocked by Vanir's revelation to the party the next day at the Guild about the dungeon containing the final magical stone moving around, Darkness also heard Sena's announcement to all adventurers about a moving dungeon appearing, and followed along her companions who agreed to explore that dungeon after Vanir offered to pay extra for all seven magical stones. Amazed by the architecture of the town dungeon described by Kazuma as a Shangri-La, Darkness headed off alone to relieve herself soon after the party entered, where she found everything in the place to be artificially created. Darkness accordingly chased after Kazuma who had gone ahead without her, only to discover him attacked by the doll copies of their party, so she joined up with Aqua and Megumin to help him defeat the imposters, though Kazuma found her doll copy actually hitting with its attacks unlike the real Darkness. The Doll Master who created the dungeon and carried the magical stone then showed up, before telling them its sad story of being discarded due to its appearance. Forced to fight again because Aqua enraged the Doll Master, the party still managed to defeat all the dolls and retrieve the magical stone.

When her party members expressed interest at the rumour regarding the seven magical stones being able to grant any wish once they are all assembled at an altar on the Island in the Sky, Darkness reminded them how they had to find a way to get up there first, prompting the party to head for Wiz's Shop and seek help. Afterwards as her party with Wiz and Vanir in tow made their way through the floating island, during a break Darkness and Kazuma took in the breathtaking view of the land below them, before being used by Aqua to serve as a windshield when they reached a higher and windier level. Following the Devil-Sealing Magical Stones being placed on the altar and the Imitation Dragon getting released just as Vanir had schemed, Darkness along with Megumin warned the others while they were preoccupied with Aqua and Vanir's squabble of the monster's hostility before it began attacking the party, who barely fought their way out of the Island in the Sky thanks to Wiz freezing the rampaging beast, only to have it track them all the way to the grasslands outside Axel.

With the Imitation Dragon rampaging at the gates of Axel, Darkness got her wish of having somebody help them when the commotion attracted the gathering of adventurers who accompanied them on their search of the magical stones. During the fierce battle, Darkness helped persuade Aqua to let Kazuma smash her shard, which had been transferring power to the Imitation Dragon for it to regenerate from its wounds. She proceeded to carry on her attacks, before covering for Ran, Yunyun, and Vanir under Kazuma's instructions as they attacked the Imitation Dragon in preparations for the killing blows to be made. Later with Vanir being unapologetic over starting the whole ordeal, Darkness along with Aqua and Megumin ganged up on him. She consequently joined the other adventurers in celebrating their victory at the Guild.

Black Slab Arc

Helping the party salvage a disastrous quest thanks to her toughness, on their way back Darkness tried to warn Megumin and Aqua against picking up a black stone slab and a gem by citing the incident with the cursed ring, though to no avail. After Wiz assessed the Black Slab at her shop and told them how it could generate clothing when provided with ingredients and magical power, Darkness began masochistically fantacizing about being cursed just as Aqua generated a set of high-quality sleepwear for young girls as a test run, following which she returned with the others feeling queer. The next morning, Darkness shocked her party when her personality changed to that of a domineering sadist, which Kazuma discovered upon closer inspection of the slab was the result of its curse.

Subsequently told by Sena that their party was accused of theft by a nobleman who offered to pardon them from banishment if they could generate within the deadline a set of clothing that makes the wearer envious, Darkness insisted on finding out the real culprit in order to clear their name, though she also agreed to use the Black Slab coupled with some clothing recipes from Vanir that were concocted by a man in black robes as well as the Archdemon himself for generating the requested clothes. Spending the ensuing weeks in a cycle of the whole party working several days on odd jobs and quests for ingredients and money to buy ingredients followed by rest and clothing generation, Darkness became increasingly aggressive towards her party members, and was witnessed by Chris while she shopped around for whips. Scaring Kazuma off when he tried asking what she wanted, Darkness then began forcing the party into survival training in case they needed to flee into the wild. It eventually came to an end when one day, as she was compelling the others to run laps around the riverhead lake to satisfy her desire of overpowering control, at Kazuma's begging she put on the Leather Lest, before whipping Kazuma so much that she was satisfied in body and broke the curse. Yet following the generation and delivery of the requested School Invidia to the nobleman, Darkness while recalling how mean Kazuma had been to Megumin, hears from Sena about the set of clothes getting stolen and the nobleman again requesting them to make another set of clothes for earning his pardon.

After being notified by Yunyun of Megumin getting cursed into thinking that loli girls are better, Darkness as she again helped the party work for ingredients got told about Megumin trying to start a Lolita Alliance. She later helped Kazuma and Yunyun set up a speech for Megumin despite being booed at by the audience, before the curse on Megumin wearing Pure Doll got broken. Soon afterwards, the party used the Black Slab for generating the requested Idol Superbia, but several days since it was sent out, Sena came to tell the party of its theft, which occurred at the same time the outside mercenaries hired to boost security were attacked on the road by summoned monsters. Subsequent to Sena dropping off another clothing request from the nobleman before leaving, Aqua confessed how she helped a man in black robes attract monsters that delayed the mercenaries on the road, an act the others realised had made them accomplices to the theft.

The next day, Darkness further questioned the Aqua forced to seiza by a despairing Kazuma, and discovered how she had helped the man in black robes break a magic barrier guarding someplace during the night before they picked up the Black Slab, the purpose for which Darkness reasoned to be letting Devils or Undead through. After hearing from Wiz about more details on the curse, the party reckoned that it was Aqua's turn to be cursed with feeling no desire, a situation Darkness and Megumin found especially troublesome to break. Darkness proceeded to help the party work for ingredients all over again, during which the incident with Kazuma offering to help Megumin clean the bathroom so she could have her feelings healed by sleep occurred. Later on she took part in the party's ambush on the man in black robes at Wiz's Shop, though Aqua wearing Sexy Formal instead purified the robed doll possessed by undead that showed up. As Kazuma fell into despair at proof of the culprit being destroyed, Darkness found it peculiar how Aqua didn't notice the man being an Undead when accepting the jobs from him, and told the party to continue working for generating the requested Sexy Luxuria in order to buy more time. Yet after a successful delivery, the nobleman came up with more excuses to make them generate an additional set of clothes, making Darkness and Sena agree that the nobleman was going to squeeze the party into slaving for him unless their innocence is proved. The girls consequently realised how their lives were forfeit because they couldn't get any more recipes, at which Kazuma comforted Megumin and Darkness in an unprecedented fashion, making the girls discover that it was him who got cursed.

Following some discussion between Darkness and the other girls as well as a bit of experimentation, the three of them came to the conclusion that the curse which should have hit Aqua got rebounded by her godly aura onto Kazuma, causing him to desire healing the feelings of everyone but Aqua. Wiz then delivered some new clothing recipes despite the culprit who concocted them supposedly vanquished by Aqua already, but the party nevertheless started working for its ingredients. Days later, Darkness hears new clues from Kazuma about how the culprit in black robes was actually still alive, before being told by Aqua that Kazuma needed to give them a relaxing massage for the curse on him to break. Then after several massages failed to break the curse, at Aqua's advice she and Megumin let Kazuma massage them without feeling defencive so the curse could be broken before it became permanent. Darkness eventually put on the Charming Roomwear, before she and Megumin got a relaxing massage from Kazuma together, and so the curse was eventually lifted, following which the party continued gathering ingredients for the requested Berserk Ira as part of Kazuma's plan to catch the man in black robes.

One night right before the deadline, the party ambushed and captured the man in black robes when he sneaked into their mansion to steal the ingredients. Yet while trying to generate the Berserk Ira requested by the nobleman, it turned out that the recipe given to them was actually for generating the self-autonomous Armour of Wrath. As the Armour moved on its accord to wreck havoc on the world in a display of wrath, Darkness struggled to hold it back. Upon Kazuma coming up with the idea of Exploding the Armour after bringing to a location without people, Darkness accordingly put on the Armour of Wrath, then resisting the pain of resistance enough to kill most people, she ran to the grasslands outside Axel, though Kazuma had to spur her onwards when she purposefully slowed down. Stripping off the Armour of Wrath and putting her own suit of armour on while Kazuma had his eyes closed, Darkness despite her endurance was all spent as Megumin cast Explosion on the Armour, thus Kazuma consequently chose to put on himself the set of clothes generated by the escaped man in black robes, which the girls later ripped off from his dead body.

After everything was settled with her having tested out enough numbers of various clothes, Darkness laid in wait for days at the Guild to sign up for a quest against Slimes, then respectively blackmailed and enticed the reluctant Kazuma and Aqua into joining her. The party also invited Yunyun to tag along, though Darkness during a discussion on Slimes sprouted a lot of perversions which Kazuma strived to keep Yunyun from hearing. Following a sleepless night, the thrilled Darkness accompanied by her companions headed for the lake, where Kazuma had to control her from charging out as soon as a Slime was spotted. Darkness let herself be caught by the Slime anyways, and despite being disappointed when the Slime wasn't able to dissolve her armour, still got excited once it slipped into her clothes to dissover her underwear, at which Kazuma ordered the Slime to be cut down. Still feeling unfulfilled as her companions didn't witness her shame of having her clothes melted before their eyes, Kazuma used the last generation of the Black Slab for a suit of bikini armour, yet Darkness then clarified that she had wanted her body becoming gradually exposed instead of wearing something that exposes it. Kazuma is subsequently attacked by a mutated Slime which only goes after men before having his clothes melted, prompting him to shut himself up in his room that night, so Darkness put on the bikini armour and let him look all over her as a form of apology. Afterwards, Darkness might enjoy the looks that townsfolk who heard about the bikini armour gave her, or starve herself because the bikini armour felt too tight to the point she collapsed in the bathroom where Kazuma found her all undressed.

Mid Spring Arc

Upon hearing Yunyun asking to bear Kazuma's child, Darkness implored her to reconsider while helping Megumin beat up the shamelessly complying Kazuma. The following day she joined the party as Wiz Teleported them to Arcanletia before starting their trek along the trail to the Crimson Demon Village. On the way, Darkness and the other girls fell for the allure of a Tranquility Girl, making her prevent Kazuma from cutting it down then and there, as well as get mad at him after he later killed it.

Subsequent to the Kazuma scouting ahead on the clearing upon the trail the party had reached the following day defeated a female Orc, Darkness was devastated to learn that the male Orcs whom she had dreamt of getting molested by are no more. Following Kazuma's molestation by the Orcs and his subsequent rescue by Yunyun, she and the gang were discovered in the forest by attacking Oni (or Goblins in the anime), before getting saved and Teleported back to the Crimson Demon Village by Bukkororii and his vigilantes.

Arriving at the village, Darkness proceeded to accompany the party in hearing Hiropon explain the situation and witness how the Crimson Demons fought off another attack by the Devil King's army, then got brought back to Megumin's home where as night fell, she protested Yuiyui's decision to let Kazuma sleep with Megumin only to be put to Sleep.

The next morning at breakfast, Darkness joined the other girls in calling Kazuma names for him attempting to make a move on a sleeping Megumin during the night. Later as Megumin took Kazuma and Aqua sightseeing around the village, Darkness went to order a new suit of armour at the village blacksmith, where she also test swung a giant sword for him. She returned to Megumin's home just as Sylvia led a raid by the Devil King's army from that direction, and despite not landing any attacks, managed through her perverted toughness to hold them off until Kazuma brought reinforcements. That night Darkness was again put to Sleep by Yuiyui for trying to stop Kazuma and Megumin sleeping together, before she was woken up by Sylvia's night raid. When Kazuma whom Sylvia had taken as hostage threatened to defect, Darkness tried to talk him out of it, only to have him request her dressing up as a maid to perform lewd orders.

Joining the others to the underground warehouse for storing weapons where Kazuma was taken to some time afterwards, Darkness then fled alongside the villagers to the Demon's Hill due to Sylvia whom Kazuma had trapped inside the warehouse merging with the Mage-Killer and razing the village. Darkness later joined the villagers' resistance for buying Kazuma time to search for clues on the weapon created to counter the Mage-Killer (while in the anime she went to evacuate Megumin's family), though she soon got dejected when Sylvia refused to attack her, and headed to the place Megumin's family as well as her party members gathered to set up the Railgun.
(In the anime, subsequent to the Railgun being charged fully by Megumin's Explosion and fired by Komekko to punch through Sylvia, Darkness had to flee alongside the others when the Growth Chimera returned to life merged with the dead Beldia and Hans. Following the arrival of Wiz and Vanir, Darkness let herself be possessed by the Duke of Hell so they could hold off the Devil King's Generals, allowing Kazuma to enact his plan for finishing Sylvia off)

Spending the next few days in the village as it was being rapidly rebuilt, Darkness while accompanying her party and Yunyun to a cursed boulder claimed by Pekonyan to be the source of the village's jinx, had happily tackled a charging Panda before Yunyun froze them together, and later shielded Kazuma from a Knee-kick Runner's killer knee kick. Eventually she escorted her companions to the cursed boulder where its jinx got Broken, then subsequently tried to stop Kazuma from staring under Megumin and Yunyun's soggy skirts that were uplifted by Pekonyan's Tornado.

Upon return to their mansion, Darkness commented on Kazuma lazing around again, before the party was notified about the princess' request (while in the anime, she joined the party on a picnic after their return to Axel, where she witnessed Megumin's powered-up Explosion, and subsequent to that spent a long period on other things before the princess' arrival).

At some point during the period, Darkness also helped pursue a runaway rare miniature Destroyer that Aqua and Kazuma tried to sell in secret, though it ended up all for nought.

Heading to the Guild when an assembly broadcast specifically requested her party's presence, Darkness heard about a high ranking official from the Guild Headquarters at the royal capital set to arrive on the following day for inspections. Haughtily lecturing Kazuma and Aqua when Luna told them off as troublemaker adventurers whom the official might disqualify, the Crusader was shocked by the receptionist declaring her within that category too.

Darkness proceeded to tidy up her act on the day of the inspection by dressing herself up in a suit of glamorous armour, and after Kazuma talked all the adventurers into questing against Giant Toads, she chased after one of the oversized frogs which was chasing after Megumin in an unsuccessful attempt to be gobbled up. The heiress next discovered that she didn't need to throw her family name around to prevent disqualifications, because the official was actually hoping to recruit powerful adventurers for filling up vacancies at the royal capital's Guild. Surprised by the subsequent appearance of a Frog Killer, Darkness found it peculiar that the oversized snake went for the adventurers instead of the Giant Toads, and made everybody notice Aqua who carried with her a basket of the Frog Killer's young. Then after Megumin defeated the oversized snake, back at the Guild Darkness was suggested by Kazuma to distract the official from seeking responsibility using her noble status, though in the end it wasn't needed.

Sometime around that period, Darkness craving the sweet potato chips of Aqua criticised the Arch Priest for her untidiness, but was in turn criticised by Kazuma over her lack of nobility, so the next day she prepared breakfast in the manner of a noble lady to show him and Megumin a thing or two, only to be shocked into shutting herself up for days because Aqua totally forgot that she was an actual noble heiress.

Having gotten wind of contraband food ingredients being used for gourmet by some noble, Darkness planning to attend a banquet held by the suspects invited Chris over to the party's mansion for enlisting her help, and asked for the Thief to accompany her to the banquet dressed in male clothing, which would make suitors vying for the heiress' hand in marriage think that she already has a boyfriend. During the visit Darkness, who was dressed like a noblewoman, didn't bother with approaching Chomusuke whom she helped feed because the cat only let Kazuma pet her, then teased Chris over the lonesome Thief being more social than appeared. The heiress was next ganged up on by the displeased Chris and the eager Kazuma, and after the Thief Binded her began fantasizing getting her clothes all Stolen. Snapping back into her heiress mode once her perversions made them doubt her noble origins, Darkness subsequent to being graffitied over her face by Chris endured tickle torture from them both. When dusk fell and Kazuma correctly guessed how Aqua and Megumin returned late because they had a disastrously slimy Explosion routine, she proceeded to lay newspaper leading from the front door to the bathroom for protecting the rugs, only to have her noblewoman dress defiled in sight of her friend because Megumin wickedly gave Darkness a hug.

At the nobles' banquet which took place in a high-end restaurant on the following evening, Darkness was investigating the various specialty gourmet presented by the participants, when she heard a commotion at the entrance courtesy of her party members trying to barge in. Promptly rushing over to berate them only for other nobles to grant the trio entry, she concerned about their antics tried to talk them away though to no avail, and had to confess her true goal of attending the banquet. Upon Chris arriving dressed in a tuxedo, Darkness clarified the Thief's role of posing as her boyfriend but got her cheeks irately pulled as a result, then in response to her party members volunteering to help through their peculiar methods, simply had them draw away the other nobles' attention by feasting on the offered gourmet. Rendered speechless when praised by other nobles for inviting the three gluttons, the Dustiness heiress who couldn't identify any problematic ingredients from the food next realised how Megumin's outlandish antics were giving her the opportunity window to act, so during Aqua's magic trick performance took Kazuma to the kitchen, albeit feeling shamed by his excuse to the hosting noblewoman about her needing the toilet. Subsequent to Darkness explaining about some explosive candy they found being prepared, the pair discovered a caged Fairy which she promptly grabbed.

The heiress began panicking back at the mansion on the next day when the fact of her committing theft finally sank in, before being consoled by Chris who tried preventing her from owning up and seeking atonement from Eris, though the Thief's efforts as well as the offers of divine forgiveness from Aqua and negotiation threatening from Megumin all got rejected by Darkness. Accordingly visited by the hosting noblewoman who owned the Fairy, the Dustiness heiress was chided and told that it was actually one of the host's chefs. As Darkness apologising on her knees was rejoicing her having a leverage in another noble's hands, the Fairy freed from the cage went to thank her, then further explained how it was told to bathe so the leftover bathwater filled with delicious wing scales could be used as high-priced seasoning. Although discovering this to be exploitation of what was legally considered a child, Darkness had to leave the pursuit of the fleeing noblewoman to Chris and Megumin because her legs went numb from all the kneeling. Spending the ensuing minutes when Aqua Healed her numb legs by articulating how she had first met Chris, the heiress of House Dustiness was subsequently asked by her friend to use her noble status for going after the noblewoman who had shut herself inside her manor.

On another day when Darkness was cooking dinner, Kazuma returned with the slimy Yunyun and Megumin, so lacking any specific explanation of what happened from him, she guessed that Megumin must have somehow messed up and gotten them attacked by a horde of Giant Toads. Spared from slime by Megumin because she was the one cooking for the night, Darkness invited Yunyun to stay behind for dinner and a pajama party.

Cursed Relic Arc

When Kazuma was requested by Lundberg, a nobleman Darkness held in high regards, to investigate an ancient relic discovered at the research facility beneath his mansion, she followed despite finding the request uncommon, only to be caught in its defence response in the form of Level Drain, which reduced the party as well as the accompanying Yunyun, Chris, and Mitsurugi to Level 1 rookies with no Skills. Managing to escape being buried alive as a result of Megumin's Explosion, Darkness attended the ensuing trial where Kazuma was charged with treason by Sena. Since the Lundberg family was too powerful for her to throw the Dustiness name around in an attempt affect the trial, Darkness could only take her companions to see Lundberg and discuss the terms of pardon. She then had to drag outside the Aqua impatient at her hagoromo being confiscated and the Megumin who was irate at being unable to cast Explosions, so that the rest of her companions could listen in peace to Rav as he tried explaining what was needed for repairing the relic, then later had to give up all her money and advanced equipment to pay for the damages on Lundberg's estate.

Taking the old road to the ruins where even monsters roaming there now proved a challenge, the party reached the neighbourhood ruins, at the entrance to which they recalled how their adventures with the magical stones began when Aqua picked up a shard of them there. Darkness soon found a passageway leading underground that was barred by a locked door, so at her advice the party went back and asked for the Guild's help to obtain its key from the noble in charge of sewer maintenance.

Upon the party entering the underground sewers running beneath the ruins, Darkness chided Kazuma for looking up the skirt of Yunyun when she tripped over, before getting all slimy from fighting off Giant Toads at a junction blocked by the amphibians. After the party's retreat back to Axel, Darkness cleaned herself up in the mansion's bathroom, before returning to the underground sewers to position the Frogicide purchased from Vanir, in the process of which she had to help fight the Giant Toads trying to obstruct them. Later at the storeroom where the pipe for repairing the relic was stored, she also fought the Giant King Toad blocking their way. Subsequent to bringing a piece of pipe back to Rav, Darkness was baffled when she returned the next day with Kazuma and heard the researcher asking them to search for a Magical Stone of Water from an unheard of dungeon near Arcanletia.

As the party walked along the highway to the city of water, Aqua showed hesitancy at returning to Arcanletia to look for the relic's replacement part in fear of its residents still resentful at her ruining their hot springs, so Darkness offered to take any stones thrown at her by the townsfolk.

Following the party's reunion with Chris who had been scouting out the city beforehand, Darkness was also surprised when Chris showed the party an Axis follower calling on the "power of Aqua" to split the waters of the lake in half and reveal an underwater temple. As the party in their search for the replacement part entered the temple clearly built for worshipping Aqua but now reduced to a dungeon, the said goddess along with Kazuma got their faces hugged in a courtyard by Lake Squids that Darkness had to pull off. Later when the party reached a flooded hall in the inner sanctum, Darkness and the other girls wearing swimsuits provided by Aqua dived in to search. She was accordingly captured alongside Chris by a surfacing Kraken, much to her delightful pleasure, and was left dissatisfied when Kazuma managed to free them. Darkness proceeded to clear away the debris that was trapping the water within the flooded hall in order to leave the Kraken weakened, allowing the party to defeat the Kraken and retrieve the replacement part.

Later as the party walked the trail to the Crimson Demon Village, Darkness also helped the others cheer up Megumin. Reuniting with Yunyun and explaining their situation to Arue, Funifura, and Dodonko when the party reached the village afterwards, Darkness joined the others in asking around about the controller slate needed for repairing the relic, though it wasn't before Aqua later performed tricks to Komekko at Megumin's home did they discover that the little girl had found it first.

Darkness became part of the support team to make Komekko impressed by Megumin's Explosion so she would hand over the controller slate, though after repeated attempts outside the village failed, she had to follow Kazuma on investigating a decayed fort, from which flew a Mecha Owl Monster that attacked them. That night while everybody discussed about the mechanical monsters recently appearing around the village, upon Megumin declaring to Komekko how she would fight those Mecha Owl Monsters, Darkness suggested to Kazuma as he chided Megumin that by taking out of those monsters' source at the fort, they might be able to show Komekko how cool Megumin is and convince her to hand them the slate. When the party returned to the fort the next day with Komekko in tow so she could see Megumin being cool, they defeated several Mecha Owl Monsters before successfully tracking the constructs to a secured building in the middle of the fort.

After the party descended into the facility ruins beneath the fort and fought to get past a door locked by a gamer code, they reaced the deepest part of the facility, where Darkness discovered an inactive mechanical construct looking like the Mage-Killer. Subsequent to the big red panic button on the wall pushed by Komekko and causing the activation of the Mage-Killer Prototype, Darkness followed Kazuma in the party's retreat, though she paused midway to delay the construct for a few seconds so that Kazuma could shut the door they had exited through onto the Mage-Killer Prototype as it tried to slither out. With its tail section trapped behind the door, the head section of the Mage-Killer Prototype was beset by Darkness and the rest of the party. Although they managed to beat the construct down, Aqua as she cheerily approached its prone form stimulated it back into activity, so Darkness had to join the party in the flight to the forest with it hot on their heels, before she and Aqua got caught in the Explosion casted by Megumin that destroyed the Mage-Killer Prototype and impressed Komekko.

Like the rest of her party when they headed over to search for the next replacement part, Darkness found out the hard way that Luna's warning about the snowfield forest turning lethally cold due to the overabundance of Snow Sprites was true after her mouth went so numb she could hardly speak. Following their return to Axel due to the others lacking Darkness' endurance to the chill, she headed back there once Kazuma bought the whole party Hot Rings to ward off the deadly cold. Later the party discovered the path leading up to a mountain of ice and reunited with Mitsurugi, then headed back to Axel for preparations subsequent to Aqua slipping away on the ice before being recovered.

Upon returning to the ice mountain with Mitsurugi being the guide and Aqua sliding out of the party to end up further ahead where the others had to go collect her, Darkness dug through the notebook from the remains of an adventurer Aqua came across, and uncovered the existence of ice dissolvent that proved the key for proceeding. When the party reached the end of the dungeon only find the way back blocked by a gigantic Big Snow Sprite, Darkness approached it only to be squashed by its enormous bulk much to her delight. After Kazuma and Mitsurugi dragged her out, the Salamander caught by Megumin was used by Kazuma to burn so many Snow Sprites out of the Big Snow Sprite that it shrank into a size the party could defeat and claim the Eternal Ice Crystal within for repairing the relic. Subsequent to them fleeing from the wrathful Winter Shogun back to Axel where they presented the final replacement part to Rav, Darkness was commended by Lundberg, who invited the party and Sena to enjoy dinner.

Following the completion of repairs on the relic, Lundberg's proclamation of treason much to Darkness' disgust, Wallavy's release as well as subsequent departure, and Rav's betrayal plus escape, the party foiled Lundberg's attempt to silence them all with a Manatite Golem, subsequent to which Darkness knocked the treasonous nobleman out and helped Sena carry him to custody.

The next day, Darkness and Kazuma gave Sena their testimonies over Lundberg's treason case before returning to their mansion, where shortly after Aqua's departure, she out of a noble's duty helped Megumin convince Kazuma that they need to go after Wallavy. Subsequent to Vanir bringing Wiz to help the party track down the magical creature, who had headed towards the Temple of Everlasting Summer, Darkness expressed relief since the party had lost their levels, only for the Archdemon to Level Drain Wiz in order to make things more interesting. They anyhow set out once Aqua came back, though attacks by Green Lizard Runners made her realise that the nearby monsters appeared to be weakened.

When the party reached the oasis adjacent to the temple, at Aqua's insistence they all took a break, during which the girls splashed around in the water wearing new swimsuits. Locating Rav who was observing an evolved Wallavy regurgitating the monsters it had drained some time afterwards, Darkness got so turned on that she squealed her perversions and alerted Rav to their presence, thus the party consequently had to fight Wallavy before Darkness reluctantly fled with the others when it regenerated. Several days later as the Guild discussed the mysterious Wallavy, the party received permission to enter Lundberg's mansion, though Darkness didn't find anything useful while Kazuma became too furious to tell her what he read in the Head Researcher's diary that Megumin had discovered.

With the party searching the Great Tree Labyrinth for Rav at Vanir's advice only to find their way being blocked by a cluster of thick branches, at Aqua's suggestion they asked Wiz for a specially formulated weedkiller, which despite wilting away the branches also enraged the Ironwood Treant that marked out its turf with them. The party accordingly defeated the monster and headed to the deepest part of the labyrinth, where they fought the Wallavy evolved to its second form who had been directed there by Rav, as well as the Guardian of the Great Tree which attacked them upon awakening.

As the party worried about their future back at the Guild in face of Wallavy's unstoppable growth, Aqua while scouring the diary of the Head Researcher, discovered a hidden page talking about a counter weapon against Wallavy being hidden in the Magic-Sealer Cave. Excitedly volunteering to cover for the handicapped Arch Wizard and Arch Priest, she followed Kazuma towards the deepest part of the cave, where they had to defeat Giant Spiders and an Arachne on the way down. But in the chamber where the safe containing the counter weapon was kept, Darkness upon hearing of possible traps on it excitedly tripped them on purpose, which activated the Big Crystal guarding the safe and forced the party to fight the defence system. Then upon them racing back to Axel, she joined in the battle against a giant Wallavy who was advancing on the city.

Several days following the giant Wallavy's defeat, Darkness was just returning from a meeting with Lundberg, when Sena burst into their mansion to notify them about small monsters looking like Wallavy popping up all over, so she had to join the party in heading to various dungeons and defeating all the small Wallavies they found.

Taking part in the party's journey into the Bottomless Labyrinth from which the small Wallavies had emerged from, Darkness had to talk Megumin and Kazuma out of blowing the whole place up when they got piqued by a mocking sign at the entrance left by Rav. During the middle of their trek where Darkness read another mocking sign, the party sans Aqua who got captured by Guardian Sword had to fight the Golem when it activated. After the party discovered Rav at his hideout and listened to him recount how Wallavy had survived the prior battle as well as evolved, they were shocked at seeing a Wallavy bigger than ever on the move outside, then fought Guardian Cross which the mad scientist had left behind while he made his escape.

When the party headed for the ancient ruins above the underground research facility as they followed the lead of Rav's whereabouts provided by Lundberg, Darkness who expressed envy at Aqua being pursued by the Titan Golem Type 2 stationed to guard the place then enjoyed the feeling of it stomping on her, before she crawled out and joined the party's efforts at defeating it. Making it down to the deepest part of the facility where the magical stone had previously been found, the party followed a hidden door discovered by Aqua that led to a secret section.

As Darkness warned about them already being discovered, the party pushed into the laboratory Rav was busing working in, where they defeated the small clones of Wallavy modified to grow spines. While Kazuma and Aqua showed Rav the truth about Wallavy and drove him into shock, Darkness along with Megumin noticed on an observation device Wallavy, who had grown into supergiant proportions, heading straight towards Axel. After they all raced back to the city, Darkness headed towards the post Kazuma had assigned her to for fending against the approaching Wallavy.

At some point during the period, Darkness when returning to Axel with Kazuma expressed her determination to go on martial training so she could be of more help when attacking, though she then revealed her real goal of facing more dangerous foes. Requested by some merchants to chase off a pair of bandits who recently moved into the area, she later took Kazuma straight to their hideout and called for them to leave, and after tanking their attacks which she enjoyed, the bandits were freaked out so much they ran off. Darkness afterwards took Kazuma to check on the bandits again, and chased them when they escaped into the woods where a Werebear attacked them. Taking all of the Werebear's attack without landing any in return, Darkness got dragged off by Kazuma when the bandits eventually jumped in to defeat the monster. Going back there once more, Darkness and Kazuma found out that the pair who became bandits after losing their jobs had now changed to woodcutting, so subsequent to promising more aid to the unemployed, Darkness returned to Axel while telling Kazuma how she was done with martial training for the time being.

As other magic users along the roadside worked on trapping the advancing Wallavy in place before it could get any closer to Axel, Darkness who had helped lure Wallavy into the trap and the other remaining members joined Kazuma to fight the supergiant warabi mochi in order to keep it from freeing itself. Following Wallavy's core surviving Megumin's Explosion thanks to Rav having inserted it inside the relic for its protection and Wallavy subsequently evolving into a mutated form, Darkness joined all the other companions who they had adventured with to make their final battle against the supergiant mutant Wallavy had transformed into. When they damaged Wallavy so much that it started splitting out the small clones of itself, Darkness let Vanir possess her so they could hack out chunks of Wallavy, before they split so that Darkness could block the small clones falling out while Vanir zapped them. She accordingly helped clear a path through the small clones to allow Aqua and Kazuma go destroy Wallavy's core, and afterwards borrowed Aqua her sword for cutting up the inert body of Wallavy.

Several days later, when all the adventurers who had fought in the battle were drinking at the Guild in celebration, Darkness enjoyed the delicious warabi mochi Aqua had cut out from Wallavy.

Late Spring Arc

In the anime, Darkness accompanied Kazuma on his trek towards a temple that he wanted to become a monk at after repeated attempts to dissuade him failed (and it was during the journey when the campout where Kazuma recalled his past and the Tranquility Girl encounter occurred). She was afterwards overjoyed upon discovering that the Uchide no Kozuchi picked up by Kazuma who had changed his mind could conjure out gold coins, and subsequently felt exasperated at him shutting himself in because he later lost it.

Saving Hagen from the rabid Kazuma and Aqua when he visited the mansion, the heiress was enraged into strangling him when her house's chief butler voiced concern over her noble status possibly being revoked to leave her scraping for a living with her lewd body. Next reading the letter he delivered which was written by Iris, Darkness became horrified to discover that the princess wanted a dinner meeting with Kazuma, something the Crusader predicted would be recipe for disaster given her party members' antics, though she in the end was powerless to stop the said trio from knowing the letter's contents and agreeing to the meeting. Unable to dissuade them over the next few days while also playing with the gaming consoles brought back from the Crimson Demon Village, she in exchange for Kazuma not requesting her tailor him a kimono for the dinner, agreed to spend a day serving him in a sexy maid outfit, and performed her duties in a way he couldn't find fault with, before clenching Kazuma painfully once he stepped over the line. Darkness later accompanied him to Wiz's Shop where the products he had designed through the production channels she had introduced were being sold, and received from the shopkeeper a lighter for free.

One day returning from shopping only to find the others practising how to pretend dropping their Adventurer Cards so another member could yell out their exploits for all to hear, Darkness chided them for their idiotic behaviour, though she soon got cajoled by their flattery. A couple of days later, Darkness accompanied her party as well as other adventurers out into the mountains for facing against Shuten and her tribe of Ogres, where the Crusader's suggestion of tackling the monsters head on got overruled by the overwhelming majority. Following Kazuma's capture and the adventurers being forced to hold a three-round contest against the Ogres, Darkness was selected to compete in the second round that was an endurance contest. But despite Kazuma successfully petitioning the rules into consisting of Darkness only needing to endure Shuten's attacks for a minute without the need for retaliating, the perverted Crusader insisted on ten minutes only to collapse after nine, causing the adventurers to lose the second round. She eventually recovered during the third round, when the adventurers and Ogres became friends.

On the day of the meeting with Iris at the Dustiness manor, Darkness tried her best to have her party members dressed up for the occasion as well as forbade Aqua and Megumin from making crazy performances for the princess, especially when a surprise strip search of Megumin revealed her to be smuggling explosive contraband. The heiress still had to drag Aqua and Megumin to a corner because they unrepentantly tried to show off upon meeting Iris and her escorts, and did the same to Kazuma when he called to have the princess returned in response to her arrogant attitude, all the while having her carefully braided hair pulled at. Anyhow managing to have the dinner proceed without much trouble once Iris became impressed by Kazuma's accounts of all his adventuring exploits, Darkness quickly made an excuse to dissuade Claire from looking at Kazuma's Adventurer Card, but next became horrified by Kazuma rebuking Iris for lauding Mitsurugi. Although Darkness' quick apology to the princess spared Kazuma from penalty for disrespect, she still requested Iris recall her declaration of Kazuma as a liar, then slapped the princess in fury when she refused to back down. Next blocking Claire's sword slash with her bare arm while suffering nothing more than a flesh wound, Darkness soothed Iris before having her injury Healed by Aqua as the tensions died down. Soon afterwards, Darkness having received the rewards for the meeting made to see the princess and her retinue off, only to be shocked when Iris pulled Kazuma into Rain's Teleportation and kidnapped him away.

Darkness proceeded to calm the panicked Megumin down by assuring that Kazuma will soon return, though that didn't happen three days later, making her worried if Kazuma had stirred up trouble. With Kazuma still showing no signs of returning six days later, the girls became convinced that Kazuma must have decided to remain at the royal castle for the extravagant lifestyle there, thus hoping to keep him out of trouble, Darkness agreed to head over and drag him back. Hearing from Claire about Kazuma's bad influence on the princess soon after the three girls' arrival, Darkness led her party members to Kazuma's room, where he was reciting the lines for sexually harassing his maid until the scum saw that it was them who came, prompting the irked Darkness into shaming him for his lowliness. She next expressed her determination in dragging him back even if she got stripped naked, before overpowering Kazuma until Iris arrived, at which Darkness successfully persuaded the princess into letting Kazuma go.

During the farewell banquet thrown by Iris that night for Kazuma, Darkness found herself unable to prevent Aqua and Megumin's impolite gobbling because she had to deal with a surrounding crowd of young noblemen vying for her hand in marriage, a familiar situation she calmly handled, up until Kazuma came teasing her by calling her real name. She was then approached by Alderp, who uncharacteristically named Prince Jatice as the only one qualified to marry her. Yet just as the other noblemen were backing away, Darkness was caught flat-footed when Kazuma loudly blurted out their intimate relationship, so in desperation she twisted his arms without caring about her noblewoman image. Darkness later managed to get some peace during the lull Kazuma disappeared from the scene, and so went back to socialising with the nobles. When Claire also joined in, however, Darkness was unexpectedly approached by Kazuma, who excitedly declared his intent of catching the noble thief known for recently targeting a series of crooked nobles' residences around the royal capital. The suspicion expressed by Darkness at Kazuma's sudden sense of justice proved founded when he confessed that his end goal was to continue freeloading at the royal castle, a plan that was thrown off the rails by Claire's declaration for Kazuma to stake out at the residence of the noble most likely to be targeted next.

With Alderp being the noble chosen by Kazuma, Darkness as she accompanied the party to the governor's capital manor, endured his lewd gaze while trying to placate his discontent over getting seen as a crooked noble, before being offered residency at the manor as long as she wants. Her party members unexpectedly taking Alderp's offer literally and proceeding to take over the manor, however, horrified Darkness into apology. At the subsequent party meeting, Darkness tried comforting Kazuma upon hearing him expressing his dislike of the noble thief being a handsome guy. Then while patrolling the manor on the following day, she chanced upon a room where Kazuma and Alderp were conspiring to peek on her and the maids bathing via a magic mirror, which she immediately smashed (before sealing off the room in the anime).

The ensuing week saw Darkness' party members embarrassing her through their shameless usurpation of the manor, so once faced with the pleas of an Alderp struggling to contain his rage, she quickly promised to leave the next day. Yet later that night when the girls found Kazuma Binded in the kitchen following his encounter with the powerful and masked noble thief, Darkness once witnessing how Aqua exploited the scum's moment of weakness to have her way with him, proceeded to get back at Kazuma over the troubles he caused her, (which in the anime included force-feeding him pudding). Comforting Kazuma after their reporting of the incident to Iris ended with Claire declaring him kicked out of the castle for his failure to capture the thief, Darkness became relieved at Kazuma agreeing on returning the Axel, and so went to find an inn where they spent the night.

Wakened from her sleep that night by an alarm signalling an attack by the Devil King's Army, the Crusader jumped to go perform her duty, yet her petition to aid the defenders were vehemently refused by the cowardy Kazuma and Aqua, while Megumin on the other hand wanted to recklessly blow up the enemy and forced Darkness to restrain her. Saved because Kazuma unexpectedly changed his mind and eagerly helped her lead the party to the battlefield, Darkness soon excitedly charged straight into the weapons and magics unleashed by the monsters, drawing attention away from the counterattacking defenders and stunning the enemy commander. Directing Aqua to keep Kazuma's body safe following his death from Kobolds, subsequent to Belzerg claiming victory, Darkness was lauded by other defending knights for her "selfless charge", and promptly ushered back to the royal castle.

Due to all the grime she became covered in, Darkness went washing it off at the castle's bathroom. But just as she was getting dressed, Iris rushing in with Claire in tow offered to wash the two women's backs, so unable to resist the cute princess' pleading, Darkness ignored the breach in protocol and went back to the bath. Accordingly finding Iris suddenly confused about the situation, Darkness next heard the princess explain how she had switched bodies with Kazuma through a divine necklace, driving the Crusader into deep shame. Since Iris nevertheless wanted to try washing the women's backs, as a demonstration of the process, Darkness let Claire wash her back, before enjoying it as Iris performed the act herself while telling of her outing in Kazuma's body alongside Megumin. Later parting with the princess, the thrilled Darkness teamed up with Claire to furiously give Kazuma a particularly good beating upon his return to the castle, then went to attend the victory banquet held that night, where she was allowed to sit at the royalty's VIP table.

She and her party members sans Kazuma then proceeded to stay in the royal castle as guests of honour for their battlefield valour, but got woken late in the night by an alarm signaling of intruders. Sent to Iris' bedroom on the top floor alongside Megumin and Aqua as the final line of defence against the unstoppable intruders racing upstairs, Darkness defiantly faced the Silver-Haired Thief Brigade once they opened the door, and pursued them out into the corridor when they closed the door and left, only to realise that the thieves were actually Chris and Kazuma in disguise. She next heard the pair loudly talk about the divine necklace still worn by Iris being a dangerous item, and deduced their purpose as trying to save the princess and the kingdom from some kind of danger. Proceeding to ignore Megumin's inquiries about the "cool" mask Kazuma was wearing, Darkness covertly signaled to the thieves her intent to secretly aid their endeavour, and allowed herself be Binded by Kazuma, only for Aqua to Sacred Break his skill. She thus had to declare herself about to perform a Side Slash in order to make the thieves slipping past her look more natural, though this caused her to be chided by Aqua for "clumsiness".
(In the anime, Darkness was Binded together with Megumin, then being requested by the approaching Claire to capture the thieves after being freed by Aqua, she purposefully let the pair dodge her attack, but was consequently teased by Kazuma for her efforts)

The furious Darkness returned to the inn early next morning to mash the heads of Chris and Kazuma while forcing them to explain everything, then having heard that the effects of the divine necklace Iris was wearing could turn permanent should one person die during the switch and therefore might be abused by those with malicious intent, reproached the pair for taking reckless actions without consulting her first. Directing Chris to immediately leave the royal capital with the necklace she had Stolen because her silver hair was too conspicuous, Darkness decided to drag Kazuma back to the royal castle, though not before noticing Chris scratching her scarred cheek in a sign of the Thief hiding something else. Consequently informed of how Kazuma had taken another treasure, the Crusader became exasperated at the adult magazine he produced, before discovering in shock that he had also Stolen the royal engagement ring off Iris' finger.

Ordering Kazuma to secretly keep the ring on him, and burning the magazine with her oil lighter, she took the downcast Kazuma to Iris' bedroom ready to explain how dangerous the divine necklace was, only to find Aqua already having told the others about it. Darkness then had to prevent Kazuma from spilling the beans when Megumin, Claire, Rain, and even Iris expressed affection for masked thief, following which she formally declared him as the one to defeat the Devil King and asked for the princess' blessing.

Later Teleported by Rain back to the party's mansion, Darkness bickered with Kazuma over him still wanting to stay with Iris, before being shocked by Megumin writing a fan letter to the masked thief. Turning excited over Kazuma bullying Aqua for her wine, the Crusader proceeded to cook some snacks for a toast.

After cooking some lunch for a late-waking Kazuma one day, Darkness was asked about what's the line for the perverted plays she likes, and so went on a tirade over all sorts of shamefully erotic situations where she was brought to the brink yet not actually violated. Notified later that day by the police about an assault suspect with red eyes at large, the Crusader immediately went to grab Megumin before Kazuma came and forced the culprit to go apologising to affected parties on the next day. Darkness accordingly heard on the following day about a suspicious establishment in the city that may potentially harbour monster minions of the Devil King, thus joined a band of knights raiding the nondescript building it was located in, only to see her party members enjoying themselves alongside inhuman creatures at the pub within. Pushed outside by Kazuma and having the door slammed on her during the moment of surprise, Darkness unable to force her way through the consequently Frozen door opted to have it smashed open with a hammer instead, before ordering the arrest of her resisting party members covering for the creatures' escape. Following the trio's release, the Crusader explained to Kazuma how sentient demihuman creatures like the Beastmen in the pub will be accepted into society if they don't harbour ill intent towards humans. Next hearing him point out a stretch of city street where a playboy ghost was hitting on female passersby, Darkness who scoffed at the preposterous claim boasted of walking on her hands stark naked if it was true, only to block her ears when Wiz began to verify it. The trio soon saw a woman distributing flyers for advertising the nighttime pub "Monster's Night", though when expressing interest at the place, Darkness was instead snubbed to her delight by the somehow vexed woman.

Early Summer Arc

Criticising Kazuma one day as he polished Iris' ring with his dirty handkerchief, Darkness in return got teased over her her antics that don't match her noble status, before letting slip about him being her type. She later followed him to the Guild where he was summoned to, and despite having worried about his identity as the thief in the castle heist being discovered, became relieved to find out that he was there to claim the stupendous rewards for defeating Sylvia, though she then had to talk Kazuma out of gifting Iris a Vanir Doll.

Soon hearing news about Ignis' health deteriorating, Darkness decided to hold the training for a heat endurance contest at the party's mansion, where she heated the living room into a sauna and had Megumin tie her up in a quilt before tempting her with ice, though it caused Kazuma and Aqua to misunderstand the situation when they returned. Accordingly getting a tickle torture from Kazuma and taking a bath afterwards, she accompanied him and Aqua to Wiz's Shop for Kazuma's intellectual property payment.

Initially angered by Vanir blurting out how she released her pent-up desires at night, Darkness eventually agreed to him telling her fortune through a crystal ball, and truthfully answered several of the All-Seeing Demon's intimate questions about her embarrassing actions at the mansion, though upon discovering that the questions actually had nothing to do with the fortune-telling, proceeded to furiously claw at Vanir's mask. Darkness was later told of a calamity befalling her father and household, against which she will attempt sacrificing herself in vain to the dismay of all whom she loved. Although she stubbornly refused the Archdemon's advice about fleeing from her fate alongside Kazuma, the Dustiness heiress anyhow went to check on her family home, only to discover Ignis' mysterious illness worsening.

The situation became even direr when a servant of House Alexei rudely barged into the party's mansion during dinner and demanded Darkness to go see Alderp, who began calling the 2 billion eris debt now that Ignis the head of her household may not have long to live, an obligation Darkness under the influence of the Adjuster stubbornly took upon herself to tackle. Hurrying back to her family home to see Ignis again, she on the following day returned to the party's mansion demanding Kazuma help her hunt the Kowloon Hydra that was about to awake in Axel's vicinity, since its stupendous reward money can help her pay off a huge portion of the debt should her party single-handedly defeat it. After repeated attempts to coerce Kazuma, such as promises of fame and fortune in addition to a kiss, were met with mocking taunts and threats of humiliating torture, Darkness managed to gain his help through begging. However, she and her party discovered at the lakeside that the Kowloon Hydra lured to the surface with Aqua's help turned out to be much larger than expected.

Darkness vehemently let herself too be swallowed by the Hydra after Kazuma was eaten alive, and managed before suffocating to recover his partially dissolved body, which to her relief Aqua successfully Resurrected. Although Kazuma didn't hold a grudge against her for instigating them to fight the overpowered Kowloon Hydra, Darkness was still depressed when her party members gave up on subjugating it and leaving it to the kingdom's knights. But when apologising once more to Kazuma while he took a bath, she became invigorated by him agreeing to fight the Hydra again with the proper preparations. Subsequently accompanying him to the Guild in the midst of an uproar, Darkness was shocked to hear that the Silver-Haired Thief Brigade, whom the kingdom's knights were too busy searching for to deal with the Kowloon Hydra, had a tempting reward on par with the Devil King's Generals placed upon their heads, in addition to them divined by Soketto to be located in Axel.

Still undeterred by Kazuma accordingly hiding out in the mansion, the Crusader during the ensuing days of rain took Megumin out everyday to cast Explosions on the Kowloon Hydra, even if no permanent damage was ever done, and on one instance the monster getting smarter struck out first to swallow Darkness before she managed to crawl her way back out. When Kazuma began forbidding her to go, Darkness snuck out of her room while Aqua who was standing vigil outside dozed off, only to limp from another failed challenge sporting serious injuries. Despite Aqua who came looking with Megumin later Healing and then chiding her, the Crusader remained steadfast in her determination.

Heading to the lake once more with Aqua and Megumin in tow on the following day, however, Darkness was surprised to see Kazuma along with the other adventurers at the Guild he had recruited waiting to aid her endeavour. Moved by their sincerity even if it meant diluting her share of rewards from defeating the Hydra, Darkness accepted their help, though her expression of gratitude was interrupted by Aqua's premature luring of the Kowloon Hydra. Under Kazuma's instructions, she subsequent to buffing through Aqua's Support Magic attracted the monster's attention with Decoy and tanked its attacks so that the other adventurers could bind its heads together and heave it ashore for Kazuma to Drain Touch the magical power out of it. Then when the writhing Hydra threatened to squash Kazuma, Darkness quickly threw herself atop him. Struggling to keep the weight of the enormous monster on her back from crushing them both while also conscious to how embarrassing their pose was, she endured Kazuma's taunting encouragement until the Hydra became distracted by Dust and allowed her to safely pull herself and Kazuma out. Later on the way back following the Hydra's vanquishing, Darkness made up her mind to give herself up for the sake of her household.

Uncharacteristically drinking herself to a stupor that night, Darkness when her party members were still celebrating at the Guild on the following day wordlessly departed their mansion in order to prepare for her upcoming marriage to Alderp, only leaving behind a note saying that she was reporting the Hydra's vanquishing to the governor. Next shutting herself up in the Dustiness family manor while brooding over the unwanted wedding, she ordered her household guards not to let her former party members in should they show up looking for her, and several days later had a letter delivered to the party's mansion for informing about her resignation from the party.

One night when Darkness was asleep in her bedroom, she was woken by her family cook delivering a midnight snack that she had never ordered. Minutes later, Darkness heard the voice of Norris outside the door informing her of Kazuma wishing to see her, as well as him revealing to the other servants her secrets which were admitted during her earlier fortune-telling session with Vanir. The heiress thus threw the bedroom door to stop him from speaking further, only to be shocked when it was Kazuma who leapt inside. Force onto her bed where her former party member straddled and gagged her with his buffed strength, Darkness didn't resist his advances until Kazuma himself became embarrassed. Yet after he stopped gagging her, she asked for him to look away, before yelling about an intruder to send the real Norris and some other guards scrambling towards her room.

Darkness' sense of triumph, however, was surprisingly upset when Kazuma who gagged her again began speaking in her voice to the guards outside the locked door, claiming how she simply got too excited when pleasuring herself, which talked the guards into backing away embarrassingly. Secretly pleased anyhow at her servants calling her a perverted heiress behind her back, Darkness accordingly explained how her family owed an enormous debt to Alderp that required her to repay with her body now that Ignis was ailing, and refused Kazuma's suggestion for him or the king to help her pay off the debt. Then after unsuccessfully trying to convince herself of how she will enjoy being ravaged by the lecherous governor, in an attempt to spite Alderp, Darkness tempted Kazuma to take her virginity. Upon hearing Kazuma spoil the moment by muttering about her having obvious abs, though, Darkness was sent into such a frenzied rage that she began swinging at him, then led a troupe of house guards after the intruder as he fled. She eventually found Kazuma in Ignis' bedroom, and refusing his pleas to elope with him while insisting on going ahead with the marriage, saw him off as he clumsily escaped out the window and away from the manor.

Spending the days preceding the wedding cooped up inside the manor, and remaining unfazed by the threatening letters sent by Megumin in her attempt to stop the ceremony, Darkness refused to go outside even when Aqua performed tricks at the manor's gates, though she also sent people to arbitrate after Megumin got arrested for sending threatening letters to Alderp. When the day of the wedding finally arrived, she in the morning went to sign the official documents marking her and Alderp a legally married couple, then headed to a church of Eris for the ceremony. As Darkness suddenly found herself despising more than ever the prospect of marriage with Alderp, which at that point she was powerless to stop, the bride-to-be was congratulated by some ignorant maids over the impending wedding nobody in her family would bless. Next thanking the butler standing guard outside for stopping Alderp from barging into the bridal preparation chamber, she became embarrassed by him advising her not to pleasure herself too excitedly, and was reminded of Kazuma whom she didn't expect to show up. Steeling herself with the memories of their adventuring days together, Darkness prepared to seek out Alderp's secret behind all the crimes he had gotten away with while the lecherous governor was occupied with her body.

The bride-to-be was soon escorted down the chapel aisle by Hagen towards the altar, where Alderp was waiting alongside the hooded clergy, only to discover that the priest was Aqua in disguise. Next grabbed by the disguised Kazuma, Darkness scolded them for committing the capital crime of ruining a nobles' wedding, but was instead reprimanded for bearing all of the party's debts, and accordingly became astounded when Kazuma scattered the 2 billion eris needed for paying off her debt around the chapel, which he had gathered by selling off all his intellectual property and pooling in his life savings. Turned on by Kazuma's ensuing declaration of her being his purchased property and having to repay him with her body, the Crusader was picked up as he bolted with Aqua towards the church door, though Darkness jumped back to the ground to defeat Alderp's guards in their way, then had to shield Kazuma when he cowered behind her from Megumin's Explosion. Subsequently chided by him for taking everything upon herself when Dust and other adventurers began beating up Alderp's guards to let the party get away, Darkness led the others back to her family manor.

Ignoring the shocked exclamations from her house guards, the heiress made straight for Ignis' room, where she explained to her father now in his last moments how the wedding was ruined. As the two of them proceeded to hold their final conversation, Darkness became surprised when Ignis betrothed her to Kazuma. Next convincing her father how happy she was with her companions, she pleaded for him to tell her more about her late mother, a wish Aqua abruptly granted by Breaking the death curse that Maxwell had cast upon Ignis. Yet despite her father being brought back from the brink of death, the awkwardness from their prior conversation pushed Darkness into the depths of embarrassment.

After staying by her father's side for the night while her rescuers returned to their mansion, Darkness early the next morning heard the unbelievable news of Alderp disappearing without a trace as well as evidence of his numerous crimes suddenly surfacing, and so went to the party's mansion to tell the trio that there's no needed to flee the city. Still hesitant at entering the mansion, she became turned on by the topic of Kazuma purchasing her in the church, before apologising for all the trouble she had caused the party and the loss of Kazuma's intellectual property. Darkness then broke the news that Alderp was actually the one who should be footing the bill for any collateral damage caused during the battle against Beldia and the Destroyer, something she had been enticed into forgetting back then, and so now the kingdom is going to repay Kazuma all the billions of eris he had paid in relation to the reparations. She was accordingly disappointed, however, when Kazuma after slightly rebuking her for secretly shouldering the party's debt, dismissed what happened on the previous day, including the part where he purchased Darkness.

Next expressing her apprehension because of her quitting the party, Darkness was welcomed back by her party members, then as payback for him ruining her reputation among her family's servants by mimicking her voice, spilled the beans over how she and Kazuma nearly crossed the line on the night he had sneaked into her home, though his retaliatory clarification of her being the one offering up her virginity flipped the tables. She was further driven into a corner when Aqua gave a brief lecture on how couples about to be married will sign the official documents in the morning before holding the wedding ceremony in the afternoon, and made the others realise that Darkness on paper was actually a married woman who got dumped by her legally wedded husband on the first night. Finally running away in tears when called "Divorcedness" by Kazuma, Darkness shut herself inside her family home for days, where she began helping the recuperating Ignis with his new duties because he was appointed the new governor.

At some point during the period, Darkness while strutting around the mansion wearing enticing clothes heard the returning Kazuma's thinking about her seducing him, courtesy of a thoughts-revealing hat that he was testing for Wiz, which she vehemently refused to put on when Kazuma thought of using it to find out how many times a day does the "busty girl" masturbate.

Finding at the Guild one day a recruitment notice from Dust, the Crusader tired of Kazuma shutting himself up ever since getting rich from the returned reparations, but rejected from team-ups with other parties herself, headed towards the front of a general store where the delinquent and Rin had set up their desk. Expressing delight at Dust's insults over her uselessness in combat, Darkness walked off following yet another rejection, though she later had to stop Megumin from blowing him up. And several weeks afterwards, the Crusader joined her party in a party at the Guild that Dust's party treated everybody to.

Mid Summer Arc

The acting governor for the sake of keeping her slate clean used her family's influence to erase all records about her marriage to Alderp, then during a lull in work participated in the interrogation of Vanir, whom Aqua had tied up in the party's mansion, for suspicion of him being the Archdemon who cursed Ignis. Upon the All-Seeing Demon not only giving vague claims of innocence but also blurting out how she dressed even more revealingly to seduce Kazuma, Darkness ferociously attacked his mask while Aqua and Wiz held him down. Yet when Vanir accordingly fired off his Murder Ray at Aqua, the Crusader ended up struck down because the Archpriest Reflected it in her direction.

Chuckling at her squabbling party members while eating breakfast on the following day, Darkness was revealed to have used her family's influence for erasing the marriage records. Chided and taunted by Kazuma and Megumin, she frantically tried to silence Aqua when the Archpriest blurted out the various cute deeds the heiress had secretly committed. During Chris' ensuing visit where the Thief publicised her mission of retrieving Divine Items, the acting governor declined lending a hand because of her new duties. She nevertheless explained about the upcoming Eris Appreciation Festival that her devout family had always made donations to, as well as argue with the blasphemous Aqua when the Archpriest proclaimed intent to replace it with an "Aqua Appreciation Festival".

Later teased by other adventurers about her abs and "divorce" courtesy of Kazuma's big mouth, Darkness shut herself inside the mansion's remaining working toilet and refused to come out even when Aqua badly needed it. She continued to hold out against Kazuma's attempts to persuade her out, yet frantically tried to exit through the toilet door that he had barred once the scum declared intent to go rummaging through the contents of her room's drawers. Still tearful from the ordeal even by dinnertime, the acting governor became exasperated at Kazuma's news of him obtaining permission to hold an Aqua Appreciation Festival alongside the Eris Appreciation Festival, on top of the Adventurer having learnt a Cooking skill.

After stopping Kazuma from losing it when they overheard at the Guild somebody insulting him for cutting down the Tranquility Girl, Darkness later envied Megumin whom he Drain Touched. And when the time came for eliminating the masses of summer monsters so that people could hold the festival in peace, Darkness on the first day of the operation accompanied her party members to the Guild for taking the quests, then became shocked at Kazuma being clueless about how the monsters in the forest needed clearing out or else Cicadas will come annoying people in town. Later pleading unsuccessfully to have all monster-attracting potions given to her, the acting governor nevertheless splashed vials upon vials of the substance upon herself, before steadfastly withstanding the attacks of many charging Stag Beetles. Suddenly blown down by Megumin's Explosion and unable to get up, Darkness soon became distressed when ants attracted by the potion came crawling under her armour, though after retreating from the larger second wave of insects, the Crusader started finding the sensation pleasurable.

Subsequently busying herself with investigations on the foul deeds of Alderp and his accomplices, the acting governor summoned Auleep to personally explain about his financial crimes among other offences, only to hear about the former accountant who had ever been elusive panickedly turning himself to the police following some incident in town.

A week preceding the festival, Darkness became suspicious after receiving a request for having the girls tending the festival stalls wear swimsuits, though when questioning Kazuma who was part of the festival committee, she was convinced by his explanation that the girls needed to splash water around for preventing heatstrokes. Three days prior to the festival however, the acting governor became surprised when Kazuma came with a request about using explosive potion for the fireworks event, something that she approved in face of him showing steadfast insistence while bearing injuries. Then on the day before the festival, after explaining to Kazuma how people dress up as Eris in order to hide the real one in case the actual goddess really comes spreading fortune, she gave approval for people to dress up as other characters including Succubi, much like at an event called "Comiket" in his home country.

Noticing Aqua heading out early on the first morning of the festival, the acting governor raced after her to keep an eye on the Axis followers. She later went back to working on her governor duties, which involved processing reports of somebody releasing Giant Toad tadpoles into the Kowloon Hydra's lake in addition to the Axis stalls at the festival engaging in fraudulent advertising, sexual harassment, provoking disturbances, and unscrupulous hard-selling. Feeling herself aging a lot in the past days, Darkness on the evening of the second day reported to Kazuma about the above problems, and apologised about giving him the same feeling whenever she caused him trouble, though his confession of him being involved with most of the said problems also alarmed her.

Soon facing more headaches from Aqua and other Axis followers when they boasted of more earnings than the Eris followers on the second day of the festival and demanded for more space allocated for them, after the third day of the festivities concluded, Darkness received a report from the police about Megumin being arrested and to be release late that night. The heiress thus seized the chance to pay a midnight visit to Kazuma's room, though she got embarrassed because Kazuma asked to have her wait at the door for a while until he was in a state to see people, and became further abashed by him letting her in while dressed only in his underwear. Anyhow thanking him again for saving her from Alderp, she went on to express gratitude about all he had done for her during their adventuring days, before giving him the promised kiss over him defeating the Kowloon Hydra, though Kazuma's ensuing complaints of disappointment ruined the mood.

Startled from her sleep by an Explosion in the middle of the night, the next morning Darkness became exasperated when reports came in about Megumin's arrest over it. Also hearing about Aqua and her fellow Axis followers pushing for only holding the Aqua Appreciation Festival next year, she was further infuriated to hear of the Silver-Haired Thief Brigade stealing the sacred armour Aigis from Undyne's manor. The acting governor promptly tracked down the culprits to an inn where they made their hideout, and successfully tied Chris up. Next using the boss as hostage in order to force the assistant who had shut himself inside the room to surrender, Darkness was instead asked to enact all the punishment upon her, which earned the Crusader a furious Chris' help in prying the door open and tying Kazuma up. Proceeding to scold the pair over their theft but hearing more excuses from them, the acting governor responded by mashing her friend's temples when Chris refused to stop stealing, followed by mashing Kazuma's head in order to vent the frustration over him sneaking out after her kiss. His blurting out of all the intimate acts they had went through within Chris' earshot, however, embarrassed Darkness so much she had to untie them in hopes of shutting him up. Accordingly chided by Chris for hiding all the details of her relationship with Kazuma, the acting governor updated them about the troubles regarding Megumin and Aqua.

Darkness later became surprised by Kazuma proposing the Eris Order to hold a beauty pageant using Eris as the theme on the final day of the festival, and it was only through his extensive reasoning about how it would help regain the prestige of the embattled Eris followers and their goddess, as well as him pointing out the addition goal of luring out the lewd Aigis which was at large somewhere in Axel, did she agree to support the sacrilegious idea, though she was vehement against requiring the contestants to wear swimsuits. The heiress anyhow participated in the pageant dressed in her glamorous summer vacation outfit to enhance their chances of attracting the sacred armour, which also captivated the audience. She however soon invited a lot of humiliating teasing when having to introduce herself using her real name, before the audience at Kazuma's goading called for her to strip naked. The infuriated Darkness promptly jumped into the crowd where she began bashing people, until placated by the announcer and escorted elsewhere.

Later hearing about Kazuma's arrest for starting a fight with the audience following the advent of Eris herself at the pageant, Darkness was puzzled when the festival committee's chairman came handing Kazuma his compensation, then became livid to hear that the scum was actually the mastermind behind having the two religious orders' festivals compete with one another on top of other scummy festivity ideas. Further incensed to learn about Aqua exploiting the Axis Order's popularity into enacting a con scam called a "pyramid scheme", she quickly seized the money which was returned to the victims, before getting Kazuma released from jail just like Megumin was.

The Crusader back at the mansion interrogated the scum over what she had heard from the chairman and Aqua about his involvement in the festivities, and proceeded to shame him by dangling the festival earnings he was trying to covet in his face. A remark from Megumin about Kazuma fraternising with some women dressed like Succubi, however, developed into a quarrel between the two of them over the intimacy of their own relationships with him. Quickly changing the topic by focusing on Aqua, the acting governor quarreled with the Archpriest over the morality and legality of the "pyramid scheme".

Subsequently attending the closing party held by the festival committee, Darkness having informed Chris of Kazuma's machinations with the festival once again prohibited Megumin from drinking alcohol. Afterwards promising Kazuma a birthday present upon hearing him reveal the current day being his birthday, she was next grilled by Aqua and Megumin for not inviting the party to her birthday party in fear of them sparking trouble.

At some point during the period, the heiress joined her party members and other adventurers at the Guild on an especially hot night to tell spooky stories, where she started telling a story about maids screaming from the basement of a nobleman's mansion at night, only to have Kazuma point out how Darkness was simply trying to tell an erotic story in which the nobleman was doing lewd things to the maids.

The party soon entered a streak of repeatedly failing quests, and during one against Kobolds that threatened to overwhelm them, Darkness lost herself in the joy of being beleaguered by the beasty monsters, resulting in them failing the quest and required by the Guild to undergo a retraining session. Wearing a bikini to the retraining that took place at the seaside where tentacle monsters dwell, the Crusader refrained from tanking the stinking Zombies attracted by Aqua. Stopped from leaving by Mitsurugi after the Zombies' vanquishing, Darkness became dissatisfied with Aqua being allowed to go play, before having sand kicked into her bikini by Megumin.

Advising Kazuma to give up on making Mitsurugi see sense regarding Aqua, the Crusader easily surpassed him on a jog. Next asked by the lecturing Sword Master to attack him with wooden swords alongside Kazuma, Darkness called Mitsurugi by the wrong name and attacked while he was distracted, which like always failed to hit his immobile form much to her embarrassment. Subsequent to Kazuma landing a sneak attack on Mitsurugi, she and Kazuma began listing the Sword Master's weaknesses, then after Kazuma was declared to have passed the lecture, paid a deaf ear to the comments about her still needing combat retraining.

Having snarky remarks about her big breasts thrown her way by the vexed Megumin, Darkness as Yunyun's lecture about controlling magic began advised Kazuma not to incite her. She proceeded to point out how Yunyun's method of replenishing magical power by sucking air was useless for somebody like her who cannot use magic, but at Kazuma's prompting tried it anyways only to find him staring at her jiggling breasts. Darkness nevertheless was able to change the colour of magical stones used for storing magical powers, and subsequent witnessing the magical stones explode once overloaded, at Yunyun's instruction the Crusader helped Kazuma chase some fish into a lagoon that he built, where they began uttering lewdly suggestive fishing banter until the disgusted Megumin blew up the lagoon using an overloaded magical stone.

Darkness finding Wiz quite energetic with her lecture over adventurer attitude proceeded to proclaim stamina for protecting loved ones being the most important thing for adventurers, and accepted the correct answer to be the bonds between companions. This however not only invited Kazuma and Megumin's teasing, but also made Aqua and Wiz inadvertently embarrass her, though the Crusader was cheered up once Wiz declared having them fight sea monsters which were said to be slippery, and thus asked Kazuma not to rescue her if she got caught by monsters.

Her wishes answered when a huge Kraken was attracted by Wiz's vial, thus Darkness purposefully allowed herself to be captured, and enjoyed the tentacles groping her all over. Next rejoicing the sensation of being hit by Kazuma's arrows, she soon turned desperate when her bikini threatened to come off and the Kraken tried to take her back into the sea. Darkness was driven into further despair as the tentacles covering her naked body began to loosen, though thanks to Mitsurugi's untimely intervention she missed the fun. The Crusader anyhow declared determination to fight alongside the others, only to be interrupted by Megumin's uncontrolled Explosion. Miraculously surviving the catastrophe that eradicated the monsters and left her laying immobile, Darkness could only helplessly watch as Megumin got swept out to sea.

After attempting to "confiscate" some medical Slime only to have Kazuma stop her and therefore changing to "purchasing" them by force instead, the Crusader witnessed a member of the Yatagarasu harassing businesses around the city in order to pressure them into contracting for the criminal organisation's "security services". The devout follower of Eris thus slashed at the thug with her futile attacks, and chased him all the way to the police station where none of the police stopped her.

Late Summer Arc

With Ignis' health finally restored, Darkness at last was able to set down her duties as the acting governor and return to a being a questing adventurer, though Kazuma and Aqua's reluctance to take quests as well as the latter's dubious money-making schemes alarmed the Crusader. Further puzzled by Kazuma trying at dinnertime to have everybody sleep early, she was invited by Aqua during the ensuing nights for overnight activities. And although Darkness won the argument with Kazuma over who cooks dinner on one of the nights, the heiress took a big blow because he criticised her cooking, and so insisted on handling dinner on the following night too.

After making tea one morning, the heiress offered a strand of her hair for a protection charm made by Megumin. Next Darkness went to help Aqua build a "dragon house" in the yard for Emperor Zel, yet her clumsiness instead caused more damage to their efforts, and ended up told by the Archpriest to call Megumin for assistance. She proceeded to ask Kazuma about his relationship with the Arch Wizard, and was relieved to hear him deny having done anything out of line. She was however accordingly shocked into spitting out her tea upon him bringing up how she took his first kiss, though the mentally toughened heiress simply apologised for her indecency.

Exasperated by Kazuma who had stripped to his underwear warning her against drinking tea because she would consequently need the toilet, the Crusader became excited at seeing his ordered mithril wire used for Bind, and so volunteered to be his test subject for that skill. Accordingly tightly Binded into an enticing pose, she was dragged by Kazuma into a closet alongside him before being gagged when Aqua and Megumin came back inside the mansion. Proceeding to bite Kazuma out of the desperate need to pee, while unwilling to let Megumin know of her being in this situation after their secret conversations about relationships with Kazuma and the Crimson Demon making a special sturdy charm for her, Darkness was given a handkerchief to bite on, but soon couldn't hold it in any longer. She thus bickered with him over their predicament which she refused to use a bottle for relieving, until the coast was finally clear.

Still unable to use her hands, the Crusader had to ask for Kazuma's company to the toilet, where she secured his assistance by threatening to relieve herself for the others to discover. Darkness was next forced to request help with taking off her panties without him seeing anything, which he eventually did by slightly sliding them down so the Crusader could finish the job herself. Their situation was finally witnessed by Aqua and Megumin when Darkness asked Kazuma to help her pull out the toilet paper, much to the Crusader's embarrassment. Although she was afterwards cheered up by Megumin and Aqua dismissing the affair as trivial, the Archpriest's question over whether she made it to the toilet in time reignited Darkness' shame. Nevertheless, she was overjoyed by Kazuma expending high-grade manatite that night for Binding her until next morning.

Asked one night by a returning Megumin about the party members' secrets, Darkness claimed not to have kept any secrets from the others, only for Kazuma to point out her having hidden her noble identity under wraps.

Seeing Kazuma fall into greater depths of trashiness through proudly lazing around all day, Darkness expressed displeasure at him comparing his actions to nobles' lifestyles. She became further irritated by him refusing to go on a monster subjugation quest by not only resisting her attempts to drag him off the couch, but also promoting peaceful coexistence with monsters in a blatant hypocrisy of the trash's attitudes back when he looked for profitable monsters to kill for paying off his debts. Unsuccessful at pulling him off even with Megumin's help, the Crusader accordingly turned downhearted because Aqua managed to unintentionally rile Kazuma up into going out for a contest.

Speechless at being named Aqua's assistant while Megumin got to be the adjudicator, Darkness accompanied Kazuma to the Guild, where despite the bad memories she accepted the quest he had selected which entailed subjugation of Goblins and their accompanying Beginner's Bane, as well as his suggested points system based on the monsters that each side defeats. But the Goblins they ran into at the grove kept getting Sniped by Kazuma before Darkness and Aqua can reach them, so furious at him stealing all their kills, the Crusader with buffs cast upon her by the Archpriest turned to teaching the cheater a lesson. The girls however were unable to catch him because Kazuma Lurked out of their range and left Frozen puddles of Created Water around to trip them over, then after Megumin caught up with the trio, the party found themselves surrounded by a dozen Goblins and the Beginner's Bane which were attracted by their racket. Darkness thus proceeded with Kazuma's plan where the three of them fight their way out together, only to be blown down when Megumin the supposed adjudicator eradicated all the monsters with an Explosion.

While petting Chomusuke one night, the Crusader during a discussion between Kazuma and Megumin about leading troublemakers, turned aroused upon him talking about "playing in binds". Next suggesting that she wasn't one of troublemakers, Darkness became irate at being named one on par with Goblins, before refuting Megumin's proclamation about herself being the most calm and reasonable one of the party. The heiress some days later received more crab from her family that she prepared a crab pot with, and at dinnertime found Megumin returning home all refreshed from having accomplished what she had wanted to do, prompting her to inquire alongside the others about the Crimson Demon's recent activities.

The Crusader sometime in the period posted a quest at the Guild for capturing a Giant Toad alive so that she can experience the slimy play, yet got scolded by Kazuma once he heard from Dust's party about it, which ended with the quest getting cancelled. And going shopping with Kazuma for groceries one day only to witness Chris playing a gig on the streets with Megumin in order to preach the Axis Order, Darkness out of pity offered help to her mentally challenged friend.

Hearing from Kazuma one morning about how he wanted to retire from adventuring, she upon him startled by a newspaper article regarding the royal capital being threatened by the Devil King's Army, read aloud the details in which a fort defending the capital was attacked by a Devil King's General known as the "Dark God", before noticing Megumin's shocked reaction at the name. Darkness on the following morning agreed with the Arch Wizard's suggestion of heading to the fort, since it allowed her a break from monotonous administrative chores, and tried goading the reluctant Kazuma into going through taunting his adventurer ranking trailing that of Mitsurugi's.

After Yunyun brought Chomusuke back to the mansion and was informed of the threat facing the fort, Darkness became stunned upon her blurting out the bombshell about the Dark God being previously sealed in the Crimson Demon Village and later taken in by Megumin as a familiar, before she was asked by Kazuma to borrow the lie-detecting bell from the police through her relations. Following Megumin's interrogation and confession about her relationship with the Dark God, the Crusader like Aqua took advantage of the bell to make the Crimson Demon admit her feelings for the party's other members. Although startled on the next day by Kazuma tinkering with the dangerous explosive potions sold by Wiz to make something called "dynamite", while accompanying the others on Megumin's daily Explosion routine later on, Darkness became awed at Kazuma using a stick of dynamite for casting a weaker version of Explosion.

Darkness also packed up on the following day for the journey with her party members plus Yunyun, who Teleported everybody to the royal capital. Accordingly impressed by Kazuma's negotiating skills that easily persuaded the city guards into providing them with maps and monster guides for the road towards the fort, she joined the others in immediately setting off. When the gang was later robbed by a band of Bandits, the Crusader noticing how dirty these sexually suppressed men were excitedly offered herself up to protect the others from the depravity she fantasized that these criminals will commit, only to be shocked to see the Bandits fleeing upon hearing her real name in fear of knight squadrons being nearby, prompting Darkness to chase after them for hours in hopes of reinstating the Bandits' pride.

Admonished by Kazuma after they set up camp in the wild that night for wasting all their time with the Bandits, Darkness promised narrowing the types of things which she will accept ravaging from. Later woken up from her sleep when Kazuma warned of a Zombie Dragon approaching, the Crusader delightedly took on the powerful blows from the rotting carcass, which turned out to be strong enough to inflict grave injuries and render her unconscious. Darkness accordingly had her wounds Healed by Aqua who carried her unconscious form as the team moved out through the pitch darkness, until she came to and walked along with the others.

Finally making it to the inn which sported a hot spring, Darkness reminisced over Kazuma trying to peek at her bathing in Arcanletia, but still teasingly offered to wash his back since she knew that he didn't have to guts to really accept, followed by taking a bath alongside the other girls prior to sleeping. Yet as they continued the trip on the next day, she was disturbed to hear Kazuma brag about bathing last night with a suspicious beauty bearing bigger breasts than hers whom he had previously met in Arcanletia. Eventually reaching the fort by sunset, the heiress became annoyed and embarrassed by Kazuma bringing up her family name for scaring the guards who were causing him trouble into apologising and providing the best rooms for the gang's stay.

She subsequent to settling in a guest room went telling the fort's commander about her party's experience in defeating multiple Devil King's Generals, and was consequently given command of the fort's forces. Then hearing at an ensuing gang meeting about Wolbach using Explosions to attack the fort walls daily, Darkness volunteered to tank that spell once more even though her armour was ruined by the Zombie Dragon's attacks. She anyhow followed Kazuma to counterattack after Wolbach's Explosion for the day, only to hear from Mitsurugi at the ruined section of the wall that Wolbach had already Teleported away to the safety of the monster army's territory. Accordingly stopping Kazuma and Aqua from fleeing, the Crusader became impressed at Yunyun and Aqua using their magic for helping the demoralised defenders.

On the next day Darkness joined the others hiding in some woods outside the fort for ambushing Wolbach, though before being able to enjoy the enemy's Explosion with her body that was buffed by Aqua, she had to accompany Kazuma on stalling the Devil King's General so Megumin could finish her Explosion chant. Accordingly rendered speechless by the childish squabbling between Aqua and Wolbach, Darkness was forced to flee from the flood that the Archpriest had summoned. As Aqua in the ensuing days began miraculously repairing the damaged walls and even reinforcing them, the Crusader named her the "Repair Captain", upon whom she alongside Kazuma and the other defenders heaped praise.

When an incensed Wolbach marched up to the fort gates, Darkness became embarrassed by Aqua pointing out her fondness of cute stuffed toys, before considering Kazuma's attempts to use Chomusuke for blackmailing the teary Dark God as scummy. The Crusader afterwards stood guard at the fort to help defend it against the monsters' retaliatory attack during the days Kazuma took the Crimson Demons to carry out his plan of daily Explosions on the camp of the Devil King's Army, yet one day found the trio Teleporting back to the fort sooner than usual, and heard about Kazuma igniting a shrunken stick of dynamite on Wolbach.

Upon getting word of the wounded Dark God approaching the fort, Darkness prompted Kazuma to deal with a despondent Megumin while heading for the gate, though she was left behind when Kazuma took the Arch Wizard on their final confrontation with Wolbach which saw the Devil King's General vanquished. Later during their stay at the inn on the gang's way back from the fort, the Crusader following the girls bathing went around looking for the absent Megumin, but eventually decided to leave her alone to nurse her hurt feelings from Wolbach's demise. And with the gang settling for Yunyun to Teleport them back to Axel on the next morning, Darkness beamed at them this time proactively seeking out a Devil King's General to vanquish, only for Kazuma to point out that she hadn't done anything in particular.

At some point during the period, a Darkness still dressing herself after a bath became distressed when Kazuma walk in on her, followed by turning agitated because he claimed disinterest in her nakedness, thus later on she pestered Kazuma to gift her something as an apology, only to be freaked out by him offering to show her his nakedness. The heiress also tried out a trick taught to her by Ignis, in which she hired Aqua and Megumin to put on a show for distracting Kazuma during a boardgame match with her, so that he ended up duped into admitting defeat.
