Dungeon Mimics (ダンジョンもどき) are monsters dwelling in dungeons that modify their appearances to lure prey.[1]

Dungeon Mimics in their true form are characterised by large maws, which in the anime version are filled with fangs, with other specific details in appearance varying by the media.
Overview[]
Dungeon Mimics are ambushing hunters that change their appearance in order to disguise as objects their selected prey are likely to approach, such as treasure chests for adventurers and humans for monsters. Once the prey unthinkingly steps within biting distance, the Dungeon Mimic will reveal its true form before snapping out with its huge maw.
