Gilbert Klein (クライン・ジルベール) is a noble in the Kingdom of Belzerg who is also a famous artist.[1]
Personality[]
Gilbert possesses both a masterful artistic sense in addition to an infatuation with explosions, while at the same time subtly exhibiting the fervour typical of the Axis Order. He also displays an aloof attitude towards commoners except for those he recognise due to his artistic passion, despite him describing himself to be different from other arrogant nobles. His motto is "Art is Explosion".
History[]
Born as the third son to an impoverished noble family, Gilbert through his mastery of art made himself a name and fortune, with Exploding Man amongst the Glittering Sunset being one of his signature masterpieces, and eventually became one of the celebrity nobles residing in the Royal Capital, albeit him having joined the Axis Order at some point in time.
Hearing of Megumin being a wielder of Explosion Magic, the explosion-obsessed artist one day made his way to Axel, where through the Guild he petitioned for her to demonstrate an Explosion. The two of them accompanied by Kazuma thus walked around the city looking for a suitable spot to cast, though the Axis follower's initial choices, which included a church of the Eris Order and Wiz's Shop, all got vetoed by Kazuma.
When they reached a mansion that its noble owner was arrogantly compelling the construction foreman to demolish within a day, however, Gilbert found the motif of a haughty upstart noble having his mansion blown up before his eyes especially innovating. Claiming responsibility for any collateral damage caused, the artist instructed Megumin to cast an Explosion on the mansion before Kazuma could stop them. Overjoyed at the sight of the noble who got blown unconscious alongside the construction foreman, the invigorated Gilbert despite being immobilised just like Megumin rejoiced the scene with her, until the infuriated Kazuma clobbered them both.
