The Guardian of the Great Tree (大(たい)樹(じゅ)の守(しゅ)護(ご)者(しゃ)) was a biological construct made from wooden branches winding together.

Appearance

The Guardian of the Great Tree looks like a huge serpent formed from twisting branches sporting a bladed head, with its root growing around a large glowing red orb that is its power source.

History

The Guardian of the Great Tree was a biological construct the Head Researcher rooted into the depths of the Great Tree Labyrinth, where it was to guard one of the sealing devices for Wallavy he had hidden there.

It proved to be worse than useless, though, since it fully awakened after Wallavy, already damaged during its unsuccessful attempt to drain the pursuing Kazuma's party, managed to absorb the sealing device as well as the contents within without issue, then subsequent to Wallavy slipping away, attacked Kazuma's party and prevented their pursuit. The Guardian was in the end destroyed by the party, and the fruits it had grown over the long years harvested.

Variations

• Guardian of the Great Tree R (大樹の守護者Ｒ): Guardian of the Great Tree with two heads that Kazuma's party had to fight if they hesitated during its awakening.

Abilities

• Fury of the Forest (森の怒り): Rears up its head to slam down on an enemy.
• Fury of the Earth (大地の怒り): Shoots its pointy roots up from the ground to stab at the enemies around it.
