The Head Researcher is a deceased researcher who was responsible for many of the unnatural, foreign elements of the Parallel World, chief among them being the Crimson Demons and the Destroyer.[1]
Appearance[]
When the Head Researcher was young, he had a very receded hairline and goatee, being bald in the front of his head, with long brown hair down the back. As he slipped into old age, this same style of hair and beard remained, the hair just graying.
Personality[]
Originally after arriving in the new world, the Researcher was fairly motivated towards defeating the Devil King, and spent several months trying to come up with something he could create to defeat him. However, he gradually grew frustrated as he seemingly wasn't able to come up with anything no matter how hard he tried. This caused him to eventually doubt his motivations in defeating the Devil King and ultimately resulted in him giving up. Upon relinquishing any desire to defeat the Devil King, the Researcher seemingly relapsed into the NEET personality he had when he was alive, being lazy and perverted with his only interest being in serving his own desires.
Ironically, he was shown to be perfectly capable of creating exceptional items when properly motivated, managing to succeed in creating a perfect humanoid robot girl, as well as several other powerful machines. Sadly, he was also shown to be extremely absent-minded, often forgetting crucial components to the things he would create, such as a control mechanism for the Destroyer or proper female sex organs for his early robot girl prototypes. He was also a masochist, due to the fact he made a fully working robot girl, but the robot girl was very aggressive and willing to whip its master because it was simply made for serving his masochistic desires.
In addition, he possessed a phobia for bugs including spiders, which still haunted him into his old age.[2]
History[]
Starting out as a young NEET in Japan before his initial untimely death, he was sent to the Parallel World by Aqua, who gifted him with a cheat ability to create anything with his imagination. Determined at first to defeat the Devil King and get his wish, he constructed a huge underground research facility where he concentrated on generating all sorts of creations. But as time passed, he became more and more lazy and started using his power to create unnecessary things, such as BDSM androids and robot golems as well as other useless toys and books from Japan.
Later leaving his facility to seek employment as some kingdom's magic researcher in order to be paid with human maids, he got hired by various patrons in the Kingdom of Belzerg. At some point in time, he lazed off under the employ of Lundberg's ancestor while stuffing himself with warabi mochi.[3] However, soon after creating the Imitation Dragon as well as the seven Devil-Sealing Magical Stones used for containing it, during a drunken tirade he sprouted a tall tale about the magical stones being able to grant any wish when all seven are assembled, so when the kingdom's high-ups came demanding he hand them over, he had to flee the kingdom or else face execution for lying.[4]
He subsequently travelled to the Kingdom of Noise where he became the Head Researcher for developing magical weapons, and was involved in the creation of some of the most significant things in the Parallel World, such as the Crimson Demons,[5] then through a series of coincidences oversaw the construction of the Destroyer. Yet following the creation of the mobile fortress, he forgot to make something that would have allowed him to control it, so when it began destroying the kingdom per his drunken ramblings there was nothing he could do. Afterwards, he hid inside the Destroyer, mostly because he couldn't get out of it, and passed the rest of his days in the control room of the fortress until his death. His body was eventually taken away by the adventurers from Axel who stormed the Destroyer, and buried in the city's public cemetery.[2]
Abilities[]
- Creation Cheat: He is shown in the anime to have the ability of create anything he wish. This power was versatile, allowing him to create things as simple as an air freshener to complex machines, an entire town, a castle-sized research facility, and even a complete sentient robot girl. However, there were restrictions to this power and the more complex the idea is, the more thought that needed to be put into it.
