The Headmaster is a member of the Crimson Demons, who is also the elderly principal of Red Prison.[1]
Appearance[]
The Headmaster is an old man sporting long greying hair, beard, moustache, and eyebrows, who in addition to round orange-tinted glasses wears a set of wizard's hat and robes of peculiar design, along with wielding a magical rod also used as a walking stick.
Personality[]
The Headmaster seems to be a senile old man, who likes to recite book series for hours on end. He also has chuunibyo tendencies, which makes him an attention seeker.
He is described as one of the worthless citizens of the Crimson Demon Village.
History[]
As the longstanding principal of Red Prison who grew tulips in the schoolyard[2] (and in the anime engaged in worthless pursuits such as the petrification of Gargoyles to display as "bonsai")[3], it became a tradition for the Headmaster to give long, dreary speeches based on book series at the commencement ceremonies for new students that may drone on until the next day. By the time the class which included Megumin and Yunyun got enrolled, however, some of the faculty like Pucchin had already learned to drag him out early in the speech despite his protests.[1]
After helping Pucchin stop a downpour that drenched the school during one lesson, the Headmaster through some investigations concluded it to be the doing of the Dark God sealed in the village.[2] Then as monsters around the village began to become aggravated, he requested Pucchin to lead the village NEETs on hunting missions against them.[4]
(In the anime, when the Gargoyles began returning to normal and running amok around the village due to the unsealing of the Dark God, he and Pucchin hurried to a hill overlooking the village where Megumin and 5 of her classmates had also ran to after their field training was interrupted by the Gargoyle attack. The school faculty was accordingly joined by Chekera, Shikobei, Chakamiya, and Torosuke, so together the six men unleashed a magical barrage that tore through the Gargoyles as well as the village. Later witnessing the rubble which the village was reduced to, the Headmaster gave an inciting speech to his surrounding kin expressing defiance against the machinations of the Dark God, before he had to help rebuild the village overnight under the repeated complaints from his students' parents)[3]
During the rampage of the Servants of the Dark God following a failed ritual to seal the deity, the Headmaster also took part in their cleansing.[5]
(When Arnes later showed up in the anime at Megumin's home, he was one of the worthless men attracted there by her bracelet. Thinking that she was the one responsible for the recent string of nightly Explosions around the village, the Headmaster teamed up with the other similarly worthless village men into chasing the traumatised Demon off)[6]
Abilities[]
- Advanced Magic: Like all Crimson Demons, the Headmaster is a powerful Arch Wizard who mastered Advanced Magic.
- Inferno: Summons enormous flames that incinerate the surrounding area.
- Crimson Laser: Shoots a red beam of heat.

Magic Rod: An exotically fashioned walking stick that boosts the power of spells cast like a magic wand.
