Prologue[]

When carrying Megumin back from her daily routine outside town, Kazuma picks up a ring from the ground, and after another fuss between Megumin and Yunyun at Wiz's shop, Wiz determines that the ring contains some kind of magic power. Later that night a drunken Aqua forces the ring onto Kazuma's finger, and the next morning everyone is shocked to find Kazuma holding somebody's panty.
Suspecting the ring which became stuck on Kazuma's finger to be behind it, they rush to Wiz's shop where Vanir explains that the magic ring was created long ago by the mage brother of a perverted noble who liked stealing panties, and has the effect of making men who wear it steal panties upon every full moon until the noble's regret is fulfilled. Since forcibly removing the ring without chopping off Kazuma's finger requires paying Vanir 30 million eris, Kazuma and the six heroines return to the mansion, where a "Panty Judgment" is held to identify the owner of the stolen panty. Afterwards they all start pondering how to earn the ring removal fee.
Chapter 1[]

Kazuma wakes up with a panty in his hand despite all six heroines vacating the mansion the night before, and rumours about him stealing panties soon spread all over town courtesy of Aqua. Luna then offers to borrow some space in the guild for Kazuma to set up shop so that he can earn the money, at which Kazuma comes up with the plan of opening a maid café staffed by the six heroines dressed as maids.
Following days of costume preparation, maid training, and advertising, the maid café opens with great initial success. Unfortunately despite its popularity with the local inhabitants seeking solace from daily hardships, this gets them into a conflict of interest with the guild, and when Kazuma begins coming up with more extreme methods for the maids to squeeze money from customers, Luna finally requests they close shop. Returning to the mansion with little net income left, Kazuma and the heroines hold a "Panty Judgment".

Chapter 2[]

Waking up from a nightmare where his party members chopped his finger off, Kazuma finds himself holding two panties, a phenomenon Vanir later explains as the ring's power gradually increasing, and Kazuma is then secretly told that he may get drained to death someday. Grumbling to Dust and Keith about his woes afterwards, Kazuma hears from the pair about the upcoming sports festival held by the guild to give adventurers encouragement, at which Luna fills in that the winner prize is up to tens of million eris. Back at the mansion Kazuma and party discuss the matter, where Darkness explains the festival involves racing from town and swimming across the lake Aqua purified the brutal alligators out of. Because there are many bad swimmers among them, Kazuma decides they need to go for swimming training. After registering their team with the guild the next day, Kazuma and the heroines change into their swimsuits at the lake and begin swimming training in various fashions, yet in the process Darkness and Chris' swimsuits mysteriously come off, while Aqua insists she detected the presence of brutal alligators.
On the day of the sports festival, despite Aqua forgetting her swimsuit and had to return home for it right before start time as well as running off when giant toads were awakened by the contestants racing across the grasslands, the whole team reach the lake and begin swimming across. However as Aqua controls the water to wash herself and Kazuma across, they soon find out brutal alligator hatchlings were snapping at the heroines' swimsuits, causing a panic attack from Aqua and Megumin casting Explosion at the lake. This results in the monsters nearby becoming agitated and the festival accordingly cancelled, so after returning to the mansion for lunch the team holds a "Panty Judgment".

Chapter 3[]

Kazuma wakes up in the empty mansion holding three panties, then finds the heroines at the guild discussing throwing him into a volcano, chopping off his arm and casting Explosion at him. Furiously racking his brain for an idea to make money, Kazuma settles on entertaining the town. After a series of discussions with the others, he abandons the idea of selling light novels and instead turns to starting a singer idol unit. Following more debate with the heroines about how to proceed, the team works overnight to create costumes, before spending days to practise the heroines' idol moves, rehearse their song and dance, as well as other special training.
At the debut live for the newly named "Shiny Blue" in which Aqua plays the centre, they attract a considerable audience with whom the idols hold a handshaking event after the performance. However, soon the fans in the subsequent shows begin dwindling, which Kazuma finds out to his fury was because of Aqua trying to convert fans into the Axis Order during the handshaking events, forcing him to hold an idol graduation event in order to close the unit before things can get worse. Dejected and further frustrated at having to cover for the extra debts Aqua made, Kazuma consequently starts a "Panty Judgment".

Chapter 4[]
- Back to the Basics and Perform Quests!

After waking up with four panties in his hand, Kazuma hears from his party that during the night something powerful had attempted to break into the mansion only to be repelled by Aqua's barrier. Thinking it was Vanir, Aqua charges into Wiz's shop followed by the others, though after a commotion without results the party heads for the guild. As they talk about earning money through honestly completing quests, Luna secretly offers them a rewarding quest that involves scouting out the interior of a newly discovered cave used as a hideout by a band of thieves for stolen antiques. Due to his party companions declining from various reasons, Kazuma decides to have a reluctant Chris and Yunyun accompany him instead.
Following a picnic by the lake, Kazuma and his companions enter the cave situated in the forest, but when crawling through a narrow passageway, the trio fall through a trapdoor into a deeper part of the cave system. After fighting off a horde of attacking monsters, they proceed to look for a way out, only to see a Skull Dragon sleeping close to the exit. As the trio retreats, they run into the remaining heroines who had followed them because Aqua was worried about her share of reward. Unable to find another route out even after defeating undead monsters, they settle on gathering around Kazuma who will cover everybody with Lurk so they can sneak past the Skull Dragon. Yet as they edge close to the Skull Dragon, Kazuma's ring suddenly flashes and wakes it. While Yunyun and Wiz strain to immobilise the Skull Dragon, Aqua half-heartedly proceeds to purify since there is no bounty on it, and ends up enraging the Skull Dragon instead. The team makes a break for it while the Skull Dragon is busy smashing the cave, and when they near safety, Megumin blasts down the cave exit. But shockingly the Skull Dragon manages to fly out of the cave-in, though after glaring at Kazuma it swoops away. Returning to the guild to report about the Skull Dragon, Kazuma on discovering that the quest is considered a failure holds a "Panty Judgment" with the heroines as well as Luna.

Chapter 5[]
- A Full-Stop for This Silly Curse!

Waking up with five panties just as his party members sneak in and attempt to retrieve them, Kazuma subsequently discusses ways to make money before they head to the guild. Unable to find suitable quests, they then try to negotiate with Vanir to no avail. Picking up Chris and Yunyun on their way back to the guild, they decide to split up and work various odd jobs, but several days later Kazuma realises that at this rate it will take years to gather enough money.
The six of them then make for the guild along with Wiz and all other adventurers due to an emergency assembly broadcast, where Luna announces that the Skull Dragon is seen slowly heading towards Axel, and a emergency quest as well as a bounty on it has been declared. When the ring flashes again during a discussion regarding the Skull Dragon's reason for approaching, Kazuma and party go to Vanir for answers. Vanir accordingly explains that the mage who created the ring had bound his soul to the remains of an Ancient Dragon after his death, so that he can wreak havoc on the world that rejected his brother's pursuit, and having expected the dragon's soul to resist his domination over the body, the mage designed the ring to use its wearer's soul as a beacon for guiding him towards people.
Coming up with a strategy to defeat the Skull Dragon outside town like with the Destroyer, the team returns to the guild and explains the Skull Dragon's origin as well as the battle plan, prompting all of the adventurers to toast before marching to fight. As planned, Chris scouts out the Skull Dragon's activity, Yunyun holds it in place using Light of Saber while Darkness shields her, Megumin and Wiz in the meantime blast it with Explosions, before Aqua with the support of Kazuma's Drain Touch casts Sacred Turn Undead.
Astoundingly, the Skull Dragon is still alive, although all the damage suffered allows the mage's soul to gain supremacy over the body. He goes on to lament about how the world is intolerant to his brother's pursuit of panties, at which Kazuma manages to talk him out of taking revenge on the world. Per the Skull Dragon's request, Kazuma hands over the five panties so the mage can put his brother's soul to rest, much to the chagrin of the panties' owners, so subsequent to Aqua purifying the satisfied Skull Dragon and the ring crumbling, they send Kazuma to Eris. After he gets resurrected by Aqua, Kazuma buys panties of the same styles in order to hold a "Panty Judgment" focused on matching the panty to the owner.

Aqua Route[]

After everything returned to normal, Kazuma notices Aqua sneaking out of the mansion late at night and returning with expensive goods. On one of these nights he tails Aqua to see her attending a congregation of Axis followers bent on worshipping her, only to find out later that those are actually a band of con artists, who tricked Aqua into borrowing millions of eris at loanshark rates using the mansion as collateral.
Determined to avoid sleeping in stables again, Kazuma tries to earn money with little success, when Aqua notifies the party about a beauty pageant held by the Eris Order with a prize of millions of eris. After Megumin goes on an errand to the guild, the party puts Aqua through intense pageant training so that she can act goddess-ly enough to appeal to the Eris followers on the judge panel, which involves jogging through toad country and rectifying her personality.
Their efforts pay off when Aqua gets declared the winner at the pageant, yet upon hearing the judges compare her to Eris, Aqua loses it and starts acting like usual while declaring herself the goddess of the Axis Order. As a result Aqua's victory gets revoked, though thanks to Megumin on behest of Kazuma posting a quest at the guild to take out the band of con artists, Aqua's debt is cancelled once some Eris followers complete it for free. However, Kazuma keeps it a secret from Aqua so she will continue working, after which she either pretends to go crazy from overwork in an attempt to shirk, or enjoys construction work with Kazuma.
Megumin Route[]

After everything returned to normal, Kazuma one day carries Megumin back from her daily routine outside town, only to pick up a ring from the ground. Taking it to Wiz's shop for assessing where they find out it contains a weak curse, Megumin ends up getting tricked into owing Vanir a huge assessment fee. Rather than pay up, Kazuma instead agrees to help Vanir break the curse at a church of Eris, yet finds himself and Megumin trapped inside the emptied building by the curse.
Bloody writing then appear on the wall saying that the curse can only be lifted if a wedding ceremony is held, but due to Megumin's refusal to hold even a pretend one, they can only wait for aid while feeding on cookies that Megumin baked. As night falls, while Megumin goes to take a bath, Kazuma gets spooked by a ghost and charges into the bedroom she is dressing in, which results in a commotion. Unable to find signs of the ghost afterwards, Kazuma and Megumin respectively go to sleep in the chapel and bedroom.
Some hours later Kazuma accompanies a scared Megumin to the toilet, after which they both witness a bride ghost and escape into the bedroom where they awkwardly sleep together. But soon Megumin wakes to find herself in a cursed bridal dress that is stuck onto her body, prompting Kazuma who realises the ghost is getting impatient to take her to the chapel where they clumsily hold a wedding ceremony, topped off with Kazuma slipping the cursed ring onto Megumin's finger which then becomes stuck. As an alarmed Kazuma vows to marry Megumin, the church's wedding bells ring and the curse lifts so Megumin returns to normal. The couple returns home determined to keep the day's events a secret, after which either the party returns to the church only for the girls to be cursed by the other bride ghosts haunting it and makes the secret come out while Wiz delivers more rings at Vanir's behest, or Megumin goes to Wiz's shop for a shopping spree at Kazuma's expense.
Darkness Route[]

After everything returned to normal, Kazuma falls into depression over the party's financial situation, and Darkness on noticing him acting peculiarly dejected, begins approaching him more out of concern. Subsequent to closely walking around town with Kazuma, Darkness discusses the matter with Aqua and Megumin, who advise her to act more intimately with him during their everyday activities.
Misinterpreting her actions to be signs of love, Kazuma escalates things by asking Darkness to dress and feed him. Darkness later invites him out for a walk around town, one which Kazuma mistakes for a date. They afterwards wander out of town into toad country, where Aqua who has been stalking them along with Megumin gets eaten by a giant toad, with Darkness soon meeting the same fate. Returning for a bath at the mansion, Kazuma uses Lurk when the girls also come in and frolic, an action that gets him beaten up and admonished after the skill wears off. Nevertheless, that night he convinces Darkness to let him cozy up with her.
The next day, Kazuma is shocked to learn that Darkness was simply trying to cheer him up, and blows up in embarassment over his party members draining the coffers. Darkness later comes to apologise, so Kazuma teases her before everybody goes out for a quest, after which Darkness either enjoys being ravaged by attacking monsters in the forest, or cosplays as a cat for Kazuma's entertainment.
Wiz Route[]

After everything returned to normal, Kazuma apologises to Chris for all the troubles he caused before heading for Wiz's shop where he does the same to Wiz, and offers to assist her for free. Finding serious problems with how the merchandise are labelled and displayed, Kazuma then accompanies Wiz to the marketplace for inventory shopping, and witnesses how the benevolent store owner keeps getting conned by crafty stall owners into buying junk at outrageous prices.
Later at home, Kazuma hears Aqua telling the party how she purified many evil ghosts that attacked on her way back from work. The next day, Kazuma goes to Wiz's shop which as usual has no customers, and learns that she had received many requests to exorcise ghosts at night. Criticising during teatime how Wiz runs the shop, Kazuma then drags her to town in order to ask around what products people need. Despite not hearing anything useful, the mothers of some children Wiz looks after tell them that ghosts had caused a disturbance in town last night, a phenomenon Kazuma suspects Aqua was involve with.
Deciding to assist Wiz with exorcism, Kazuma heads for her shop after dinner. He helps her carry a bag of expensive holy water to work on the guild, only to find that Aqua had already exorcised the ghosts there, and is further horrified at how Wiz spreads the holy water for warding off ghosts all over town without charge. They later play with some children ghosts before seeing them off to the afterlife, then goes to a church of Eris which causes Wiz discomfort, where they run into a discontented Aqua and agree to let the ghosts haunting the church be. As they walk by the river on the way back, Wiz points out that the ghosts became active because Aqua got excited from good croquette sales, so the goddess confessed she had tried to take advantage of it by performing exorcism for charge. Refusing to split the earnings with Wiz, Aqua accidentally splashes holy water all over the lich, forcing Kazuma to shove an undressing Wiz into the river before she burns away. Kazuma then continues to assist Wiz for a while, after which either Kazuma tries on a gifted holy bracelet that repels Wiz and requires a fortune to remove, or he and Wiz work to make the shop an effective one seemingly run by a married couple.
Chris Route[]

After everything returned to normal, Kazuma apologises to Wiz for all the troubles he caused before heading for the guild where he does the same to Chris, who jokes about having him pay a million eris before deciding to have him owe her a favour. Trying to find out what she may want, Kazuma tails Chris from the town to the fields outside, in the process making various grumblings to his party members that he runs into regarding the elusive thief who is actually leading him in circles.
Wakened the following morning by signal guns the guild fired, Kazuma is horrified to hear from Darkness that somebody had posted a quest in his name stating that he will pay a million eris to whoever captures Chris within six hours. Already too late to cancel the quest that all adventurers in town had signed up for, the only way out is for Kazuma to keep Chris from capture until time is up. Dragging Chris from Wiz's shop after its owner tried to drug them, Kazuma secretly takes her through town to his mansion where he finds out Megumin didn't post the quest.
The other adventurers soon come barging in despite Megumin's efforts to stop them, forcing Kazuma and Chris to flee all over town until they get cornered, at which Kazuma uses Steal to create an opening, only find out that he had also stolen Chris' panty, and so throws it out as a diversion when cornered again. Convincing Chris to take refuge in a church of Eris, soon Kazuma and she have to creep through rooms and onto the roof when pursuers begin closing in. Arriving outside after nearly ripping off Chris' pants only to be surrounded, and failing to make Chris flee after pretending to strip her, Kazuma is finally saved by the guns signaling time-up. On their way back, Kazuma blows up at Aqua who had been lying in wait outside town for posting the quest because she misunderstood Kazuma's grumblings about Chris, after which Chris either tells a Kazuma mocked by the town that he is obliged to help her in future, or while going shopping has Kazuma buy her crêpes.
Yunyun Route[]

After everything returned to normal, the party which returned to their dissolute life visits Wiz's shop where Yunyun shows up to challenge Megumin. On Aqua's suggestion they go the lake for a fishing contest, during which Aqua and Megumin splashes at Kazuma before Yunyun falls into the water alongside Megumin because of a big fish that slips into her clothes. Later calling the contest a draw, they all return to the mansion to roast the fish, and Yunyun who enjoys the company asks Kazuma for permission to stay at the mansion.
With the party giving their approval the next day, Kazuma and Yunyun accompany Megumin on her daily routine, where Yunyun easily dispatches the giant toad that popped out. Back at the mansion, Yunyun diligently cleans up the messes Aqua keeps leaving around, but a week later she starts commenting that they should be working more on quests, at which Darkness and Megumin take her and the party out to eliminate flying salad. Impressed with the assistance Yunyun gave, Aqua and Darkness invite her to join the party, yet Megumin threatens to quit if she does.
To tackle the problem, Kazuma asks Wiz and Chris to oversee contests decided by him, Aqua and Darkness for testing whether Megumin or Yunyun is better. Yunyun ends up winning the contest of selling croquettes for Aqua thanks to Megumin's bad reputation, and also the one involving striking down Darkness with magic because Megumin refuses to participate. But in the two-pointer contest decided by Kazuma in which they need to take care of Aqua, while Yunyun spoils the dissolute goddess, Megumin instead forces and persuades her to work on quests like a useful person. Conceding defeat, Yunyun leaves the mansion for more training, after which she either lets her bento be lost to Megumin again, or comes to dinner at the mansion to Megumin's delight.
Drama Plot[]

It starts off with Kazuma doing an introduction of the story theme, before he and his party have to flee from a horde of undead attracted by Aqua, which sees Kazuma running off a cliff. Hearing complaints from Eris about him constantly dying, after getting resurrected by Aqua, Kazuma makes up his mind not to take quests ever again and instead shut himself up at home, a decision he declares to the party during the debriefing meeting back at the mansion. He then crawls into his kotatsu to emphasis his point, but his party members don't take him seriously and let him be.
A few days later, the trio tries to persuade Kazuma out because they were failing quests, only for Aqua to blow it. They then attempt Aqua's idea of luring him out with praises and food, and succeeds in getting him to poke his upper body outside for the hot pot, yet Aqua then gets tricked into the kotatsu which she becomes addicted to. Megumin next tries to inspire and then blow them out, but upon being foiled by Kazuma, she takes his dare to enter the kotatsu, thus falling prey to its temptation. Darkness then starts fantasizing about Kazuma becoming a useless person to his disgust, and at her request insults her, prompting her to wriggle into the kotatsu too.
Initially pleased that everybody has gone into shut-in mode, Kazuma suddenly realises there will be neither income nor food if this goes on. Making a 180 degree turn, he tries to chase his party out for them to work, and proceeds to confiscate the kotatsu. Later he heads for the guild to look for quests, to the delight of Megumin and Darkness as things have went just as planned, though Aqua still misses the kotatsu the next day while forcing the party to flee when questing because she attracted a horde of monsters, ending with Kazuma getting killed again.
