May There Be Joy for This Beautiful Expert! (この美麗な上級職に喜びを！, Kono Birē na Jōkyūshoku ni Yorokobi wo!) is the second chapter of the KonoSuba manga series, and covers Chapters 1 to 2 in Volume 1 of the light novels.
Summary[]
After Megumin and Aqua wash themselves at the public baths following them being gobbled up by Giant Toads, Kazuma frets over their economic situation, since the rewards are so meagre they can only afford to sleep in stables. He then hears that Megumin can only use Explosion Magic while Aqua had already learned all Arch Priest Magic in addition to party tricks, thus attempts to ditch Megumin, only for her to make such a scene in the Guild within earshot of several female adventurers that he has to keep her.
Kazuma later hears from Aqua about how he can learn skills after them being demonstrated by other people, though he refuses to learn party tricks or explosion magic from the pair who had gotten themselves slimy from frog saliva, at which a beautiful blond Crusader turned on from hearing about the slimy part suddenly comes offering to join their party. He accordingly tries to turn away the crazy Crusader named Darkness by listing the awful things his party may go through, only to make her even more determined to join.
A Thief named Chris who is Darkness' friend then approaches with an offer to teach Kazuma Thief skills, so the three of them head out to an alleyway, where Chris takes Kazuma's purse during the demonstration of Steal. She subsequently challenges Kazuma to Steal the purse back from her once he learns several of the Thief skills, only for him to Steal her panties which he excitedly waves around, to Chris' embarrassment and Darkness' awe.
They return to the Guild following Chris returning Kazuma's purse in exchange for her panties, though when Darkness tells Aqua and Megumin about the panty Stealing, Chris further exaggerates it out loud to ruin Kazuma's reputation. Kazuma then demonstrates Steal only to take Megumin's panties, at which Darkness again declares her desire to join, and feels pleasure at being rejected once more. With his companions agreeing to let Darkness join, Kazuma tries to scare her off by saying that his party will go fight the Demon King, only to spur Darkness and Megumin into sticking with him.
The Guild suddenly broadcasts an emergency quest, one that the natives of the world realise means harvest season for cabbages, which the Guild will purchase at a generous price. The puzzled Kazuma follows his party and all others adventurers outside, where he is left dumbfounded to find out that their quest is to capture a swarm of flying Cabbages zooming through the town. As the adventurers scramble to harvest the valuable vegetables, Megumin blasts the swarm with an Explosion, while Darkness who cannot hit any with her broadsword enjoys being smashed into by the Cabbages.
Subsequent to Darkness shielding other people, as well as Kazuma Stealing plenty of the Cabbages, that night everybody enjoys fried Cabbages. When Aqua and Megumin officially lets Darkness join the party, the protesting Kazuma tries to Steal the harvest rewards from Aqua, only to take the bra of the masochistic Crusader.
