Summary[]
Kazuma and Aqua follow Darkness to her family mansion while Megumin is away busy with her own business, where following a discussion with Ignis, the two of them dress up as a butler and a maid in preparation for the marriage interview, during which Kazuma will secretly help Ignis for a reward to prevent Darkness from doing anything unwarranted.
Darkness starts to show her intent to ruin the marriage interview ever since they wait for Balter's arrival, only to have Kazuma stop her under the pretext of not tarnishing her family name before the young nobleman. During their subsequent interview with Balter, Kazuma secretly stomps Darkness' foot whenever she tries to say something out of track, until Ignis suggests Darkness and Balter take a walk in the garden, which Kazuma and Aqua also accompany.
As Balter notices Darkness being close to Kazuma, who in turn is impressed by Aqua commanding koi in the pond to play tricks, Darkness unable to hold it any more tears up her dress, before challenging Balter to a sparring match at the dojo while calling him out for not being as perverted and willing to attack women as Kazuma, and accordingly makes Balter, who had initially come to refuse the marriage, agree to a duel.

Differences to other versions[]
- In the light novel, Kazuma prior to dressing up as a butler pretends to be an art connoisseur when looking at Darkness' old scribbling, before giving suggestions on how to avoid blame from a vase broken by Aqua.
- After being stopped by Kazuma from ruining the interview upon Balter's arrival in the light novel, they go into another room for a quick party discussion, where Darkness confronts him over his betrayal, followed by an overview of Balter's character and the type of men she likes.
- In the manga, this overview was adapted into a later chapter.
- Aqua simply summons the pond's koi to her in the light novel.
