May We Bid Farewell to This Troublesome Physical World! (1) (この煩わしい外界にさよならを!①, Kono Wazurawashii Gaikai ni Sayonara wo! 1) is the thirty-first chapter of the KonoSuba manga series, and covers Chapter 1 in Volume 4 of the light novels.
Summary[]
Kazuma accepts the offer from Vanir to partner up for a business where Vanir manufactures the Japanese goods that Kazuma designs the prototypes for, starting with the kotatsu that the NEET shuts himself into, making even the lazy Aqua who refuses Megumin and Darkness' invitation for going outside recoil. But after repelling Darkness' attempts to drag him out through using Freeze, Kazuma nearly gets bodily thrown out the window along with the kotatsu by her and Megumin.
Sena then visits the mansion, hoping Kazuma's party which she has high expectations in can take a quest to subjugate Lizard Runners that are causing a disturbance with their mating race. Initially reluctant to work now that he is rich, Kazuma ends up accepting when he discovers how his companions have all out-levelled him.
Perched atop a tree on the grasslands outside the town, Kazuma gives instructions to his companions below him on how to stop the horde by first killing the Princess Runner and the King Runner from afar. His plan however quickly falls apart when Aqua arbitrarily draws all the Lizard Runners towards their position with Force Fire, and him Dead-Eying the King Runner only incites other males trying to take its place. With Aqua throwing a tantrum on the ground while Megumin is unable to aim her Explosion because the monsters are too fast, Darkness barely holds back the stampede. Kazuma manages to Dead-Eye the Princess Runner as it uses Darkness as a springboard to leap at him, only for its body to hit the tree so hard that he falls off and breaks his neck.
Back with Eris again, Kazuma apologises in embarrassment before hearing about his crazy companions being safe after the Lizard Runners dispersed. As Eris expects Aqua to Resurrect his body, Kazuma suddenly realises how he will rather be reborn as a baby.
Characters[]
Differences to other versions[]
- Kazuma in the light novel Freezes Darkness by shooting the magic from his fingers at the nape of her neck instead of breathing it out, and also Drain Touches magical power from Megumin when she too tries to pull him out of the kotatsu, before asking for them to carry the device with him in it to the toilet only to be faced with threats of being thrown outside.
- Prior to fighting the Lizard Runners in the light novel, Kazuma goes to pick up his new sword from the blacksmith.
- The manga adapted the part about his visit to the blacksmith into a later chapter.
- The part where Aqua refuses to go fight the Lizard Runners until the others bait her with a hot pot is omitted from the manga.
- Megumin is unable to cast Explosion in the light novel because of Kazuma Drain Touching her earlier on.
- In the light novel, Kazuma makes his decision to reincarnate into a new life after Aqua had cast Resurrection on his body.
Trivia[]
- From this chapter onwards to the final chapter of this arc, the artist started basing the character designs and background sceneries on the second season of the anime, the release of which had already advanced past the story timeline of the manga series.
