Summary[]

The Dashing Hawkites proceed with their "Chicken Race" by charging straight at the bound Darkness before dodging over her at the last moment in a display that excites her and embarrasses Kazuma. The other adventurers then fight with magic and manage to take out some Dashing Hawkites, yet still suffer injuries when the birds charge through the caravan. With the Dashing Hawkites turning back for another run, Kazuma upon hearing about a cave in the vicinity tells his companions to board their carriage, though because of the ropes binding Darkness unable to be readily untied, he has to settle for her suggestion of tying her to the carriage so she can be dragged along.

While their carriage races towards the cave with the Dashing Hawkites hot on their heels, Wiz sinks some of them with Bottomless Swamp as Aqua continuously Heals Darkness and Kazuma Dead-Eyes as many as he can. Once they stop close to the cave, Kazuma with Powered strength tosses Darkness to its entrance, making the Dashing Hawkites all jump over her and enter the cave, following which Megumin blows up the trapped monsters with Explosion.

That night when the caravan sets up camp along the highway, Kazuma refuses the rewards from the impressed caravan leader for the sake of his guilty conscience, then repairs Darkness' armour using his Blacksmith Skills while Aqua gets Wiz to help her entertain the caravan. Some hours later, Kazuma and Darkness are waken from their sleep by masses of approaching enemies that turn out to be Zombies. From how they head for Aqua, who accordingly purifies them in a divinely display with Turn Undead, which despite catching Wiz in the crossfire fascinates the rest of the caravan, Kazuma deduces them to be also attracted to her divine aura, and thus secretly apologises to the caravan.

The next day, the caravan arrives at the beautiful city of Arcanletia, where Kazuma refuses the rewards from the caravan leader but accepts his invitation to stay at an inn that he owns, before delightfully disembarking with his companions despite Megumin missing Jarippa. Kazuma who carries the unconscious Wiz soon discovers to his horror that Arcanletia is actually the headquarters of the Axis Church, the followers of which quickly surround his party in an attempt to convert them.
