May a Man Grace This Mixed Bath! (この混浴温泉に男の潤いを!, Kono Konyoku Onsen ni Otoko no Uruoi wo!) is the thirty-seventh chapter of the KonoSuba manga series, and covers Chapter 3 in Volume 4 of the light novels.

Summary[]

An old Axis follower enters the confession booth to confess how he had been tempted by the big breasts of Eris on the portraits of her, though when Kazuma feels like punching him, Aqua consoles her devout follower into tears, before revealing that Eris wears chest pads. After the contented follower leaves, Aqua explains to a disgusted Kazuma how gods are empowered by the devotion they receive, so she needs to protect her followers who provide her with fanatical worship despite their small numbers.

As they pick up a Megumin traumatised by all the conversion attempts and a Darkness excited with children throwing stones at her in preparation to leave, the Axis Priestess suggests them trying out the sacred bathing spring behind the cathedral, which Aqua readily accepts. Leaving her behind and returning to the inn, Kazuma learns to his disappointment that Wiz had already bathed in the hot springs, so he immediately heads for the mixed bathing springs.

While Kazuma strips in the change area, he overhears within the mixed baths a man resenting the Axis Church gloating about how he already sabotaged the sacred bathing spring among others so that the hated cult will crumble within his long lifetime. Linking the dots together, Kazuma realises that he had just eavesdropped on an alarming scheme conspired by inhuman parties. Yet just as he is about to silently slink away in an attempt to avoid trouble, especially one regarding the Axis Church which he too agrees should be destroyed, he hears a busty woman enjoying the springs answering in response, so he immediately marches inside to stare at her.

After the man leaves, the woman strikes a conversation with Kazuma about how they came to the springs for healing, before revealing that she had failed to retrieve her powers after battling her other half as well as once teaching magic to a Crimson Magic girl. As the woman bashfully proceeds to leave too, she leaves a warning to Kazuma not to bathe in the town's hot springs again.

Reminising about the experience, Kazuma hears Megumin frolicking with Darkness in the women springs before they discuss about him, so he tries to eavesdrop by the fence, only to have Darkness bash him through it, sparking a battle in which Kazuma Creates Water at the girls who throw things including Chomusuke at him.

Some hours later, the returned Aqua while weeping tears that burn Wiz hollers about being chased out of the sacred bathing spring because she turned it into pure hot water after bathing in it, as well as the old man in charge of spring maintenance not believing her to be their patron goddess, a sentiment also shared by Kazuma.

Differences to other versions[]

  • In the light novel, Kazuma sees Darkness being stoned before he enters the confession booth, then after the Axis follower enters, makes a hand signal about him taking his leave, only for the misunderstanding Aqua to perform a hand shadow trick in response.
  • The conversion forms stuffed onto Megumin are omitted in the manga.
  • Returning to the inn and discovering that Wiz had already bathed, in the light novel Kazuma fantacizes about the missed opportunity where he joins her in the hot springs.
