Summary[]

As the guards race towards Darkness' room upon hearing her yell about a pervert, Kazuma shuts the triumphant heiress' mouth, before using her voice to tell the guards about to enter that she was simply playing intense adult games by herself and is now in an indecent state. When he screams in pain courtesy of the infuriated Darkness squeezing his wrist, Kazuma claims that she had forgotten to turn off her disreputable magical toy, making the shocked guards shyly excuse themselves.

Later nursing his sore wrist, Kazuma points out how contrary to her bemoaning, Darkness is actually anticipating being called a perverted heiress by the guards. He then asks for the reason she is quitting the party, so Darkness explains that her household had borrowed money from Alderp, and her father who planned to gradually pay it off recently fell into poor health, thus Alderp started calling on the debt, which Ignis will have to pay up before he dies, unless Darkness gets it cancelled by marrying the governor.

When Kazuma expresses his shock at one of the nation's big shots having to clear their debt by selling off their daughter, Darkness tries to play it down as something common among nobles, in addition to acting excited at having the kind of perverted pig she prefers feasting on her body nonstop for days. Kazuma though notices her forlorn look, as he finally comprehends why she was so intent on defeating the Kowloon Hydra with only their party instead of other adventurers who ended up diminishing their share of rewards. But when he offers to help pay off the debt, Darkness refuses out of her duty as a noble, who cannot allow a commoner she is supposed to protect paying her debts with money he doesn't have.

Darkness next pull Kazuma on top of her, and proposes for them to step into adulthood before the governor tears away everything. Caught off guard, Kazuma realising that Darkness had given up tries to restrain himself for the sake of the days ahead, but eventually gets swept away. When stroking Darkness' belly, however, he blurts out how ripped her abs are. Soon afterwards, Kazuma finds himself fleeing for his life through the mansion corridors from the embarrassingly enraged Darkness and the guards behind her, so considering the heiress who screams about giving him ten strong punches at the least beyond reasoning, he runs into a random room hoping to find a way out.

Once inside, however, Kazuma instead discovers an emaciated Ignis sitting on a bed, before the lord upon recognising him expresses joy at Darkness having a great party member, whose goal he quickly deduces. After chuckling over the news of the recently depressed Darkness now in a fit of rage, Ignis as Kazuma inquires about the inconceivable debt surprisingly asks him to elope with Darkness. In the ensuing discussion about the upbringing of Darkness who is currently out for Kazuma's blood, she is described by her father as unwilling to trouble others, just like how she voluntarily took it upon herself to settle the debt through marriage, despite Ignis thinking it possible for him to take care of the debt or outright cancel it. He proceeds to implore Kazuma into taking Darkness away, even if she is currently trying to kill him.

Kazuma subsequently inquires about Ignis' illness, and offers to have Aqua take a look at him, only to be told that Archpriests' healing magic don't work on illnesses nor can they resurrect those who die of it. When Kazuma next suspects the timing of his health declining to be the result of poisoning by Alderp, Ignis assures him how this was the first thing he too had assumed, although the tests didn't detect any trace of poison. As Darkness' search party comes nearer, Kazuma hears of her stubbornly refusing to seek royal help or use money from the treasury for taking care of private matters. The frenzied Darkness accordingly bursts in with the guards, and argues with Kazuma over him embarrassing her and her stubbornly taking on the debt. Finally having enough, Kazuma dashes towards the window while yelling taunts at Darkness, but instead trips on his way out and ends up falling awkwardly, to which Darkness taunts him in return.

Managing to stumble back to his mansion albeit covered by injuries, Kazuma tells Aqua and Megumin all about the debt, which the girls' meagre wealth are also incapable of helping out with. He therefore decides to sulk at home until the stubborn Darkness comes begging for his help in tears, so Megumin and Aqua respectively send threatening letters for thwarting the wedding and attempt luring Darkness out by performing tricks in front of her home. Exasperatedly watching the girls head off to mess things up, Kazuma lies on the couch waiting for Darkness to show up, which does not happen even till the day of her wedding.

Characters[]

Differences to other versions[]

  • The manga skips the part where after Kazuma ruins the mood with Darkness, his tussling with the infuriated heiress alarms the guards, who come running back and open the door upon Darkness telling them of the voice mimicry, so Kazuma accordingly Drain Touches and Freezes his hands out of her grip, then blinds the guards with a combination of Create Earth and Wind Breath before Ambushing away.
  • Kazuma clumsily falls when going out the window in the light novel because the glass is too hard for him to jump straight through, and later has Aqua Heal him back at the mansion.
  • In the light novel, Alderp starts a campaign publicising the marriage a week prior to the wedding, during which Kazuma engrosses himself with creating new products such as bubble wrap and sandbags while failing to make the other girls stop their crazy schemes despite giving them some lecturing, resulting in Aqua's daily performances turning the Dustiness residence into a sightseeing attraction, and Megumin getting thrown into jail for sending threatening letters to not only the Dustinesses but also the Alexeis until Darkness sends word to have her freed.
