Summary[]
Following a fight over food with Kazuma at the Guild while Megumin and Darkness look on, Aqua takes shelter inside the cage they had previously used, only to have Kazuma lock it. As Aqua begs to be let out and Darkness wonders why Kazuma calls her a "goddess", an well-doing adventurer who reminds his beloved goddess that he is Kyouya Mitsurugi, the reincarnate from Japan who wields the Magical Sword Gram gifted for his exclusive use by her approaches. He hurriedly breaks open the cage, before angrily confronting Kazuma over him bringing Aqua to this world on top of supposedly mistreating her, then offers to let Kazuma's companions join his party, though the girls all turn it down because of his narcissism.
Mitsurugi though insists on challenging Kazuma to a duel with Aqua as the wager, as the members of both their parties watch on. Kazuma accordingly accepts, yet his surprise attack doesn't work on Mitsurugi, who is in fact a high-level Swordmaster. But after feigning defeat, Kazuma distracts Mitsurugi by using Wind Breath to blow the spectating girls' skirts up, before Stealing Gram out of his hands and knocking the Swordmaster out. When Cremea and Fio begin telling him off while he takes the cheat item as a trophy, Kazuma threatens to use Steal on them and scares them off.
Later on as Kazuma's party dines at the Guild, Mitsurugi approaches as he calls out Kazuma for all his misdeeds against women that Chris told him about, only to be informed of Kazuma having already sold Gram. After Mitsurugi runs off, Darkness inquires regarding Aqua being referred to as a "goddess", at which Aqua confesses to actually be the patron deity of the Axis Church, only to have Darkness and Megumin think that she is delusional.

Differences to other versions[]
- In the light novel, the party meets Mitsurugi on the streets straight after the purification of the lake when he stops the cage containing Aqua.
- During the duel, Kazuma in the light novel quickly Steals Gram out of Mitsurugi's hands at the start.
- Aqua in the light novel ends up having the cost of the cage damaged by Mitsurugi deducted out of her rewards from the purification, though upon the subsequent meeting with him, she punches him with God Strike before swindling the Sword Master for an even bigger amount.
