Summary[]
Calling on his experience as a NEET back in Japan, Kazuma carrying a sack of bubble wrap for containing the target suit of armour selects an hour late enough in the night when people are sleeping the soundest to rendezvous with Chris outside the mansion of Undyne. Later leading the avatar of Eris, who in her mortal form can neither see in the dark nor identify devils and undeads but will not become an undead magnet, through the pitch black corridors of the mansion, Kazuma tries pressuring her into holding onto his hand, only to fearfully back down once his boss threatens him with severe divine punishment for sexual harassment. Accordingly having to remind her to concentrate on the sacred treasure instead of the valuable paintings they pass by, the assistant is moved by his boss hoping to help impoverished children with them, and suggests her to raid the more valuable items in the vault.
At the magically locked vault, Chris reminds Kazuma not to set off traps like how he did at the Royal Castle, but the assistant while waiting for his boss to pick the lock Senses a weird aura within. They are subsequently dazzled by the treasures stored inside, with the assistant complaining to his boss for her pilfering treasures in hypocrisy of her previous warning to him, yet no sign of the sacred treasure nor the aura Kazuma had Sensed is found. Kazuma following his Sense eventually stumbles upon a hidden doorway, beyond which they discover the holy armour chained onto a stand. But as Chris approaches to touch the toughest armour in the world now being covered in scars from protecting its wearer against the Demon King's Army until his demise from sickness, the pair is surprised to hear Aigis complaining at the boss who is initially mistaken to be a "boy" for touching it.
The talkative armour whom Kazuma had Sensed proceeds to infuriate Chris by demanding to be referred at respectfully, forcing the assistant to hold her back from quarreling with the object. The boss thus beseeches Aigis to help save the world with a new Japanese reincarnate owner, only to have the armour refuse taking damage for somebody other than a pretty swordswoman who is also voluptuous and cute, making Kazuma contemplate sinking it into the sea. The assistant anyhow proceeds to cover Aigis in bubble wrap for carrying it away, yet upon hearing Chris say that there aren't many females sent from Japan, the holy armour suddenly wakes the whole mansion by yelling aloud about kidnappers, forcing the thieves to frantically flee.
Making back to his mansion at daybreak, Kazuma barely has time to lie down in bed before Aqua wakes him up for festival preparation. Sleepily following the goddess outdoors while feeling puzzled at her citing the preparations involving the elimination of monsters, he at the Guild finds the town's adventurers tensely readying themselves for a campaign against monsters in various surrounding terrains, which Aqua explains is for clearing the weak monsters popping out during this season so that the festival can safely proceed. Still baffled at the enthusiasm because the adventurers had already earned enough from the battle against the Kowloon Hydra, Kazuma finds also present is Dust's party. He accordingly hears from its male members how as patrons of the Succubus Cafe, unlike female adventurers who simply want to enjoy the festival, they aim to eliminate the monsters in the forest.
The further perplexed Kazuma, upon hearing a male Guild employee encouraging the male adventurers to help ensure an enjoyable period during the festival, asks Aqua about its connection with eliminating forest monsters. Megumin and Darkness proceed to explain that forest monsters will impede the workers who catch Cicadas, which will cause the insects to eventually fly into town. In response to Kazuma's ensuing reaction showing sympathy towards the short-lived bugs, Aqua enlightens him on how the Cicadas in this world not just live longer and chirp louder than those in Japan, but also chirp in the middle of the night. Finally understanding how disastrous it will be if he files a dream request with the Succubus Cafe only to be kept awake all night by the cacophonous Cicadas, Kazuma joins the other male adventurers into fervently taking action against the super bothersome bugs.
