Shining Flowers for This Night Sky! (1) (この夜空に輝く華を!①, Kono Yozora ni Kagayaku Hana wo! 1) is the eighty-sixth chapter of the KonoSuba manga series, and covers Chapter 4 in Volume 8 of the light novels.
Summary[]
Megumin on the third night of the Eris Appreciation Festival indignantly forces from his bed the sleeping Kazuma, who on the way out to the fireworks event with the irate Archwizard tries hiding how his hangover had resulted from having drank all night with Succubi. He then hears that Aqua and the Axis Church had been boasting of earning more than the Eris Church and thus demanded more stall space, though Kazuma still tries to trust the goddess because of her innocent manner on the previous night. Deciding to let Darkness handle the matter, the two of them anyhow decide to keep away from the Axis Church's stalls.
Kazuma becomes disappointed upon discovering that Yunyun, who fusses over her apparel for her first festival alongside other people, is also coming along, but has his hopes for a date rekindled once Megumin secretly offers to return home alongside him after the fireworks event. He proceeds to hide this by starting an argument with Yunyun over being shut-ins, but still fails to read Megumin's intentions for the upcoming occasion. As the trio later wanders various stalls, Kazuma makes a killing at the shooting and straw drawing stalls with Deadeye and his insane luck, leaving with many prizes in his hands and the vendors in tears. When Megumin and Yunyun comment on him being merciless, Kazuma cites the festivals in Japan to justify his ruthlessness in the war between customers and vendors.
He then tries keeping a low profile as Megumin, who talks about cosplayers being allowed for this festival, wonders if the people "dressing up" as Succubi are actually the real ones, before the trio notices Vanir managing a stall selling replicas of his mask. The Arch-devil after attempting to sell Megumin and Kazuma his wares, entices Yunyun through claims of friendship to man the stall in his place so that he can return to managing Wiz's Shop.
Left with just the both of them, Kazuma at Megumin rejoicing this breather after all their battles, reminisces how the festival in this world is unimaginably different than those in Japan. With her feeling puzzled over his choice of words, the reincarnate contemplates telling the native party members his otherworldly origins one day. The fireworks event accordingly begins, yet just as Kazuma prepares to serenely view it from a distance, he is abruptly grabbed by Megumin to join other wizard adventurers running for the battlefield, since it turns out that the fireworks events in this world are actually signals for fighting against insect monsters attracted by the festivities' firelight, much to his upset fury.

- The manga adds the dialogue between Vanir and Kazuma's trio, and expands the context of Kazuma's ensuing contemplation about reincarnating into a different world as well as the fireworks.
- The point about Megumin trying to cast Explosion on the insect swarm only to be arrested is omitted from this manga series.
- Instead it was depicted on manga in the flashback of a separate chapter from the second Megumin spinoff series illustrated by a different artist.
- The unarmed Kazuma in the light novel can only run around during the battle against the insect monsters, until discovered by Chris and agreeing on them immediately enacting a second heist at Undyne's mansion.
