Darkness Shows Her Gratitude (ダクネスのお礼参り, Dakunesu no Orēmairi) is the eighty-ninth chapter of the KonoSuba manga series, and covers Chapter 4 in Volume 8 of the light novels.
Summary[]
It so happened that just before the second heist at Undyne's mansion, Kazuma having dressed up in his thief gear was just about to sneak out of his bedroom through the window, when Darkness suddenly knocked on the door. This made him frantically strip down to his underwear and hide the thief gear, though the sight of Kazuma breathlessly opening the door without bothering to dress up caused Darkness clad in her nightgown to think that he had been doing something perverted.
Later putting his jersey back on, Kazuma despite being in a hurry listened to the heiress, who seizing the chance of them being alone in the mansion, bashfully offered gratitude over him rescuing her from Alderp. Reiterating all the adventures a noblewoman like her had been able to experience thanks to him, Darkness suddenly advanced on Kazuma who turned apprehensive as he remembered his relationship with Megumin.
The Crusader, whose enthusiasm was cooled upon Kazuma blurting out the Archwizard's name, anyhow gave Kazuma the kiss that she had promised when asking for his help against the Kowloon Hydra, leaving the gift over saving her from Alderp for another time. Kazuma though felt cheated because he was anticipating much more, prompting Darkness to engage in an argument with him, and as a result Kazuma became late to the rendezvous that Chris had been waiting at.

Differences to other versions[]
- In the light novel, Darkness tells Kazuma to wash his hands upon him opening the door in his underwear, while Kazuma worries about Aqua spreading rumours if she returns from the festivities to witness Darkness paying a visit in her nightgown.
- Kazuma dressing back up in his jersey is a manga-only feature.
- After Kazuma talks about Megumin, in the light novel Darkness reveals that she had arranged for the Archwizard to be released from incarceration late that night.
Trivia[]
- This chapter was inserted into the series because magazine readers were unhappy with the artist skipping the crucial details about Darkness coming to kiss Kazuma back when illustrating the night of the heist.
