A Smile for This Dour Girl! (この
Synopsis[]
Kazuma and the gang receive a letter from Princess Iris. She wants to share a meal with them while hearing about their adventures. While Kazuma is giddy with wonderment of her beauty, Darkness is terrified of heads rolling in the event of any rudeness.
Plot[]
Kazuma merrily wonders if Princess Iris is a cute and gentle girl who will call him a "big brother", while making Darkness dress up in an erotic maid uniform in exchange for him not wearing a kimono and hakama to the dinner, though her exaggerated masochism soon puts him off.
He anyhow allows her to dress in her usual attire when they and Megumin head to Wiz's Shop, where the products designed by Kazuma and crafted with Megumin's aid as well as Darkness' connections are pushed out for sale, like the oil lighters of various designs. Kazuma proceeds to let Darkness and Megumin take one for free upon Wiz offering so as gratitude for their assistance, yet demands payment from Aqua who hadn't helped at all.
The upset Aqua thus blurts out how Kazuma had secretly sniffed the clothes taken off by the girls, much to his horror, before performing all kinds of magic tricks in front of the shop, which attracts a huge crowd willing to pay for seeing more. The goddess however earns the ire of Vanir because she is disrupting business on top of other past vandalism, though Wiz acting like a shopkeeper for once manages to lead the crowd into lining up for the new products. Glad that the fortune promised in exchange for the Japanese's intellectual property will soon be earned, Vanir as he teases Kazuma over his relationship with Megumin, gifts him a black Vanir Mask designed like the one he wears.
Several days afterwards at the Dustiness mansion where the princess is staying, Kazuma wearing a suit feels unsettled by Aqua and Megumin's inappropriate plans for entertaining the princess, following which a gorgeously clothed Darkness dresses up the other girls formally despite issues with their dresses and Megumin's smuggled explosives. Subsequent to her anxiously reminding the party how imperative it is to act properly, Kazuma anticipates being asked to move in with the princess, before trailing the uneasy Darkness alongside the others to the meeting.
In the dining hall, the party sees Iris who looks just like Kazuma expected, though subsequent to Darkness stopping Aqua and Megumin from doing something unwarranted, Claire who appears to speak on the princess' behalf arrogantly tells him off for disrespectfully looking at Iris before ordering him to start telling his adventure stories, making Kazuma talk of trading out the princess, to Darkness' horror. Aqua anyhow comes up with a realistic sand portrait of Iris that cheers the princess up, then during the dinner, Claire who also knows Mitsurugi asks of Kazuma to start telling his stories. Later finishing his glorified account of how he defeated Sylvia, Kazuma goes on to spin his former life in Japan as a NEET into deceptive depictions of glorious triumphs, which impresses the princess.
Claire who has doubts about Kazuma defeating Mitsurugi, however, asks to see his Adventurer Card, on which are Skills that Kazuma cannot let outsiders discover, though following Megumin's failed attempt to have Aqua divert attention, Darkness thankfully covers for Kazuma. Yet when Kazuma gets piqued at Iris and Claire going on and on about Mitsurugi being handsome, the retainer in turn angrily draws her sword because of his disrespect, until Darkness steps in to apologise for him, following which Rain orders on behalf of the princess for the lying Adventurer's party to leave.
Megumin who is angered by Kazuma being called a liar nevertheless controls her temper for the sake of Darkness, so the heiress herself next requests the princess' statement be withdrawn. Iris though personally tells Kazuma off, only to be slapped by Darkness to the shock of the others. After blocking the sword slash of the enraged Claire with her bare arm, Darkness soothes Iris as she continues speaking in defence of Kazuma's honour over him refusing to divulge how he defeated Mitsurugi. Seeing Darkness' stoically defending him, Kazuma accordingly agrees to demonstrate what he used against Mitsurugi, so Claire also prepares to challenge him while ignoring Iris' pleas to stop. Kazuma proceeds to coolly cast Steal, which gains him the panties of an embarrassed Claire and a beating from an angry Darkness.
Claire apologises after Darkness' flesh wound was healed by the drunken Aqua, whose healing abilities impressed her, before lauding Darkness for her toughness and Megumin for her Crimson Demon powers, yet she still holds reservations over her evaluation of Kazuma. At this moment, Iris whispers something to Rain, who advises the princess to personally speak with Kazuma because he has a soft spot for her. Iris in a huge contrast to her initial attitude consequently apologises to Kazuma and timidly asks to hear more of his adventure stories, to which the moved Kazuma immediately agrees.
Soon afterwards, the royal trio prepares their return to the Royal Castle, at whom Kazuma's party bid their farewells as Rain starts her incantations for Teleportation. But when Kazuma tells Iris how they can talk about more adventure stories the next time they meet, Iris to the surprise of her escorts instead drags him into the Teleport circle. Taken aback when he finds himself also Teleported to the entrance of the Royal Castle where he can continue to tell adventure stories, Kazuma is reminded of the royalty's audacity.
