A Loving Hand for our Party that Can't Make it Through the Winter! (この冬(ふゆ)を越(こ)せない俺達(おれたち)に愛(あい)の手(て)を！, Kono Fuyu wo Kosenai Oretachi ni Ai no Te wo!) is the eighth episode of the Konosuba anime.

Plot

Kazuma and Aqua visit a magic shop run by a kind-hearted lich named Wiz, who reveals herself to be one of the Demon King's generals in charge of protecting a barrier surrounding the Devil King's castle. After Wiz teaches Kazuma the Drain Touch skill, the party takes on a request to exorcise evil spirits from a mansion, where they can stay during the winter. Later that night, Kazuma and Megumin find themselves on the run from an army of possessed dolls while also desperately needing the bathroom. The following morning, Aqua reveals that her actions after first meeting Wiz led to the mansion being haunted in the first place.

Anime Differences

• The anime skipped two story arcs between this episode and Episode 7. Those can only be found in Volume 2.
  • The 1-day Party switch between Kazuma and Dust
  • Keele's Dungeon Exploration with just Kazuma and Aqua - This was adapted into a later episode in Season 2.
• Wiz was introduced much earlier in the original light novel (Volume 1) compared to this episode.
• In the flashback of Aqua's first meeting with Wiz, their clothing differ slightly from the light novel. Aqua is not wearing her goddess robe while Wiz is shown wearing her usual outfit and not her demon cloak.
• In the light novel, Wiz mentions that there is only one Demon General that she is close friends with.
• Several minor changes to the Mansion scenes are made and differ from the light novel, such as:
  • Aqua going on an extremely long monologue describing all she knows about Anna. This continued even after the others had cleaned up the mansion and settled in.
  • For the scene in Aqua's room, they changed dialogues between Kazuma and Megumin slightly. In the light novel, Megumin is more cooperative. However, in this episode, she basically threatens to sabotage Kazuma, if he tried to pee from the balcony.
  • Kazuma going first in the bathroom and singing outside per Megumin's request is absent in this episode.

Trivia

• Aqua's hagoromo is a powerful divine relic that can disappear and reappear as Aqua wills it. She can also use it as a winter scarf.
