The Mage-Killer (魔術師殺し ) was a weapon used to counter magic users.[1]
Overview[]
The Mage-Killer was a mechanical device looking like a huge serpent, and has the ability to negate the effects of all magic around it. Originally a test weapon created by the Head Researcher based on a terrible sketch of a stray dog after he was pissed by the higher-ups of the kingdom rejecting his proposal of building a giant humanoid robot, when the newly created Crimson Demons learned of its existence, they in all their chuunibyouness volunteered to stand guard over the device that was their "nemesis", and so the Mage-Killer was sealed within a secret facility in the Crimson Demon Village. At some point in time, the Mage-Killer went on a rampage before the Crimson Demons managed to take it out with the Railgun, though it was subsequently repaired and resealed.
Many centuries later, Sylvia leading the armies of the Devil King attacked the village in hopes of getting her hands on the Mage-Killer, and succeeded in doing so after kidnapping Kazuma to the facility and forcing him to unseal the storage door locked by a gamer code. She proceeded to absorb the Mage-Killer into her body, before using her newfound power to burn down the Crimson Demon Village while nullifying its inhabitants' magic attacks. The Mage-Killer ended up being destroyed along with Sylvia after she was hit by the Railgun fired by Komekko (though in the anime she came back to life even stronger, only to be obliterated by Megumin and Yunyun's Explosion of Saber)[2].

Appearance[]
The Mage-Killer Prototype looks like a huge silver mechanical serpent, sporting a bladed and fanged snake-like head, a serpentine body with glassic joints, and a sting at the tip of its tail.
History[]
Created long ago by the Head Researcher as a test prototype before he went on to complete the actual Mage-Killer, the Mage-Killer Prototype was sealed within the storage area beneath the fort outside the Crimson Demon Village.
When Kazuma led his party along with Komekko, who was carried on Megumin's back, to investigate the fort only to stumble upon the facility underground, he unlocked using a gamer code the storage door behind which the deactivated Mage-Killer Prototype was kept. Yet once the irresistible big red panic button on the wall got pushed by Komekko, the security system activated the Mage-Killer Prototype and commanded it to purge the intruders, who could do nothing against its long flailing body.
In response, Kazuma led his party out of the storage area, before keying in the code to shut the storage door onto the Mage-Killer Prototype as it was trying to slither out. The party then frantically battled with the head section without having to worry about the tail section trapped behind the door, and succeeded in dealing grievous damage to the construct. However, the Mage-Killer Prototype still managed to free its tail section from the door and drag itself after the party as they fled into the forest outside, though when Kazuma realised that it would follow them all the way to the village, Megumin set her sister down and destroyed the Mage-Killer Prototype with her relearned Explosion, the display of which impressed Komekko.
Variations[]
- Mage-Killer Prototype R (魔術師殺し試作型R): The fully mobile Mage-Killer Prototype that Kazuma's party had to fight if he didn't trap it in the door.
Abilities[]
- Silent Field (サイレントフィールド): Emits a field that not only damages everyone around it, but also seals all magic skills.
- Brandish (ブランディッシュ): Flails its long body to sweep at everyone around it.
Trivia[]
- The Mage-Killer and the Wizard Predators may have been created using the same technologies.
- It possibly incorporates the crystals used in the Magic-Sealer Cave for producing its magic nullifying effects.
