Food in this Everyday Life! (この日常に食を！, Kono Nichijō ni Shoku wo!) is the fifth chapter of the KonoSuba Nichijou manga series.
Summary[]
One day, Aqua while on a walk through town overhears a conversation about a new horned boss fish showing up at a waterhole, which supposedly tastes delicious when put into a hot pot. Consequently she presses her party members back at their mansion to go fishing, making Kazuma comment how she is solely motivated by her urge to feed.
As they fish for the fish, whose precise appearance none of them really know, Kazuma denies Megumin's idea of blowing away the water in the waterhole since it will blow the fish up as well, instead ordering her to hold back Darkness who is going on about becoming the bait. At this moment, Kazuma gets a bite on his line, but after the party eagerly pulls it in, they find out that the boss fish is actually a small swordfish.
The party later puts it into the hot pot, which Aqua gluttonously digs into without first making a courteous dining declaration. When the others find the swordfish indeed delicious, Aqua asserts how she deserves to eat more for providing the intelligence, though Kazuma warns her about the prior tragedy of her turning obese recurring.
That night as the party is sleeping, Aqua gets wakened by the noise of many things flapping around, which she discovers to her shock are Anna's dolls chasing after her. Aqua proceeds to wake Kazuma for help, and after getting over his initial surprise, he deduces that the dolls are possessed by the ghosts of fishes they had eaten, who are angry with her not making the proper dining declaration. Stopping Aqua from casting Turn Undead, Kazuma lectures her about the dining declaration being a ritual of gratitude for those critters whose sacrifice allowed them to live. The ashamed Aqua accordingly apologises to the fishes, thus the satisfied ghosts all leave the dolls, and a moral for teaching good little children to properly declare before dining is made.
