Rex is a more "muscle-brain" type who is self-important and has a teaser personality, though he respects those displaying impressive prowess.
History[]
Leading a party that apart from him consisted of Sophie and Terry, Rex fought himself a name as the strongest swordsman in Axel, until Mitsurugi's arrival knocked him off first place, something he still grumbled about when joining the hunting squadron organised by the Guild against Host. During the adventurers' trek into the forest, he expressed disdain at the young Megumin and Yunyun following along, though Yunyun subsequently defeating a whole swarm of attacking Slimes all by herself impressed Rex. Later having to retreat back to the city with the other adventurers because Host defeated Mitsurugi and the vanguard, Rex also helped look for Aqua, but was in the end unsuccessful.[1]
The following day, Rex came up with the idea of asking the Crimson Demon mages to help capture a Beginner's Bane, which he thought Host was looking for, in order to lure the Demon out. Borrowing a cage from the Guild, he and his party took the Crimson Demons into the forest where they exterminated a tribe of Goblins, before the Beginner's Bane lurking nearby pounced out to be captured and caged through the assistance of Yunyun. Host however suddenly burst out, and in one blow smashed Rex and his party unconscious, following which they had to be transported back to Axel by the Crimson Demons.[1]
After the party was taken to a church of the Eris Order, their wounds were quickly Healed by an intruding Cecily, and readily agreed to Yunyun's petition for accompanying her on a rematch against Host the following day. During the ensuing battle, Rex and his party managed to hold out thanks to the multiple magic items Yunyun was utilising. When Sophie and Terry were later defeated, Rex took on the Demon alone to buy Yunyun some time for her to Paralyse Host, before he was eventually saved by the appearance of Megumin, and following the battle got carried back into the city by the Guild.[2]
A week later, Rex offered Megumin, who let them keep all of the Guild's rewards for defeating Host, a place in their party, though it was turned down because they were planning to head for the Royal Capital, where the battles are too difficult for her level.[3]
Rex and his party afterwards met Megumin and Yunyun again when the Crimson Demons appeared at the Royal Capital's Guild, before recognising in shock that they had brought Iris along too.[4] Later seeing Megumin once more when she went there with Kazuma and the rest of her party, he tried to convince Kazuma how a veteran adventurer like him did in fact fight alongside as well as offer to recruit Megumin.[5]
During the Devil King's Daughter's attack on the Royal Capital, Rex and his party appeared to have taken part in the defence.[6]
