Shuten (シュテン) is an Ogre who leads a tribe of her kin.[1]
Appearance[]
Shuten, despite standing over two metres tall as Ogres typically do, is described to possess a voluptuous body.
Personality[]
Shuten in addition being fluent in human language speaks in a tone that is quite feminine, though she will not hesitate to eat humans. While she generally acts brashly and does things with an emphasis on masculinity such as drinking and fighting, Shuten still gets embarrassed when undressing before males.
History[]
Originally leading her tribe to fight in the service of the Devil King, Shuten soon got tired of killing the weaklings she typically faced, and led her tribe into deserting. They however still had to run all over the land from the adventurers after her head, since the bounty on her was still active.
While her tribe was taking refuge in some hills near Axel, they found their usual game monsters being scared away by the daily mysterious Explosions that suddenly got a great boost in power. Seeing a distant hill being blown flatter by the day and worried if their hills would become the next, Shuten sent one of her subordinates over to investigate, though he was unable to get an answer from one of the locals near the location who was piggybacking another. The following night, Shuten detected the presence of Kazuma intruding into the tribe's camp and thus ordered him captured, then subsequent to a bit of threatening, made him blurt out all about the local adventurers gathered outside their camp ready to attack.
After discussing with her tribe, Shuten decided to settle the matter in Ogre style through three contests, in which the humans could do what they want with her should they beat her once, or else she would eat Kazuma up. Taking her tribe along with a tied Kazuma to the adventurers who were outnumbered, Shuten was surprised by Kazuma's unpopularity among his peers including his party members when they all started chastising him for his failure and considered abandoning him to his fate, though her challenge was eventually accepted because of Megumin's enthusiasm.
Shuten was faced in the first round which was a drinking contest by Aqua, who readily allowed herself to get drunk on the rare spirit Ogre Killer. Next up was a combat contest where her opponent was Darkness, and subsequent to hearing of how she tanked the attacks from even the Devil King's Generals, Shuten agreed to Kazuma's request of changing the rules so that Darkness only needs to endure her attacks for a minute while not retaliating to win. The time limit, however, was extended to ten minutes at Darkness' demand, and ended with Shuten managing to pummel her onto the ground after nine minutes despite getting sore fists.
With Kazuma backed into a corner and so frustrated he decided to rely on himself, Shuten allowed him to pick the form of the final gambling contest. She accordingly found herself on a losing streak after he chose strip rock-paper-scissors, and had to embarrassingly strip until near-nakedness, much to the joy of the adventurers and even the other Ogres as both sides made friends. Finally surrendering, Shuten agreed to Kazuma's demand consisting of her tribe leaving the area, which she was planning to do anyways. Then following her explaining the tribe's predicament caused by the Explosions, she received an apology from a weeping Megumin who got stripped by an irate Kazuma.
Abilities[]
Brute Strength: Being the chief of an Ogre tribe, Shuten possesses a powerful physical prowess, which given time can even break down Darkness' formidable defence.
Alcohol Tolerance: Shuten has a strong tolerance against alcohol, and is able to keep herself awake after downing alcoholic drinks capable of quickly knocking out experienced drinkers like Aqua.
Enemy Detection: Shuten wields the passive skill that notifies her of enemies nearby, in addition to rendering Lurk skills in her vicinity void.

- Her name was based off the Shuten-dōji from Japanese mythology.
