Slimes (スライム) are creatures that possess liquidly bodies and can morph into many shapes.
Appearance[]
Slimes look like blobs of viscous fluid that can move and morph on their own volition. Usually, the colouration that they take is indicative of their properties, such as their habitat, elemental attribute as well as abilities.
Depending on the media, other specific elements of their appearance may be portrayed differently, ranging from simple coloured blobs containing a core that is their weakness to gelatinous octopoid aliens.
Overview[]
Slimes in the KonoSuba World, contrary to the common Japanese conception of them being weak mooks like in the Dragon Quest games, are actually highly powerful adversaries, whose physical properties make them immune to most forms of attacks while being able to suffocate or dissolve and digest nearly anything they stick to.[1]
Slimes that grow to proportions larger that the regular person are commonly known as Mega Slimes.[2]
Variations[]
- Gelatinous Slime (ところてんスライム): Artificial slime that is used as food and can be processed into powder that reverts to slime once water is added,[3] though it has a record of choking infants and elderly.[4] For a period it was banned by the authorities, due to its choking hazard and role in an incident with Arcanletia's hot springs.[5] Modified breeds that do not choke their eaters were later created by Cecily.[6]
- Pink Lotion Slime (ピンクローションスライム): A type of Slime coloured pink and supposedly bred in cages to produce lotion.[7]
- Blue Slime (スライムブルー): Slimes that are coloured blue and inhabit cold or watery environments.[8][9]
- Adaman Slime (アダマンスライム): Slimes with a adamantite composition that slither around in Shangri-La.[8]
- Green Slime (スライムグリーン): Slimes that are coloured green[8] and dissolves only clothes.[10]
- Poison Slime (ポイズンスライム): Slimes that secrete toxic poison.[2]
- Deadly Poison Slime (デッドリーポイズンスライム): Slimes that secrete toxic poison even more lethal and corrosive.[1]
- Slime Shogun (スライム将軍): A black Slime that dressed itself up as a shogun and led an army of Slimes to infest the Mystery Tower where he heard that Hans was located.[8]
- A rare form of mutated Slime that only attack men and melt away their clothes.[11]
- A breed of Slime used for medical purposes.[12]
Abilities[]
- Physical Resistance: Slimes lack a solid body, and are thus immune to nearly all physical attacks.
- Magic Resistance: Slimes' gelatinous bodies make them highly resistant to many forms of magic.
- Acidic Body: Slimes are composed of acidic bodies that can dissolve and digest whatever edible thing that they stick to.
- Body Morphing: Slimes can mould themselves into different shapes, and those high-level enough can even take the appearance of the creatures they ingest.
Notable Slimes[]
Trivia[]
- Slimes may have been one of the materials used for making the Slime Catcher-kuns.[13]
