Tranquility Girls (安楽(あんらく)少(しょう)女(じょ)) are plant monsters that take the form of adorable girls to lure their prey.

Appearance

Tranquility Girls take the form of a helpless little girl, in some cases seemingly injured, with trees bearing their fruits growing not far from them.

Personality

While they look innocent, Tranquility Girls are two-faced monsters that make their killers feel bad whatever they slay the Tranquility Girl or not. They are insidious, often using any dirty trick to manipulate their victims and slayers, also destroying their executioner's morale by telling harsh truths when the Tranquility Girl are on the verge of death. They are ruthless since their birth.

Overview

Tranquility Girls are sentient plants categorised as an offshoot of Alraunes. They takes the form of a little and injuried girl in order to fool travelers into staying by their side and protect them, while letting their victims feed on its fruits, those are addictive and entirely devoid of nutritional value, until their protectors die of malnutrition, at which point the Tranquility Girl's roots will take and consume their corpses as fertiliser.

Tranquility Girls are so named because many dying elderly adventurers actively seek them out in order to die a peaceful, tranquil death. In areas where they inhabit, general warnings are given to woodcutters and adventurers to exterminate them on sight.

History

Kazuma's party met one Tranquility Girl on the way to the Crimson Demon Village (while in the anime version, it was on his way to a monastery). Although Kazuma wanted to get rid of her, because Aqua, Megumin and Darkness felt sorry for the supposedly innocent monster, they followed their way. However, once Kazuma came back in order to ask her to not threat anyone, thinking in a way to feed the Tranquility Girl everyday, he found out about of her true rotten nature by listening the Tranquility Girl talking to herself, and ended up killing her without a second thought.

Dust's party also accept a request to slay a Tranquility Girl in the lake near Axel, in order to bring their fruits to Vanir so he could create a diet snack. After they found the Tranquility Girl, Dust got the fruits, but they rotted the way back to Axel. He later returned, alongside Yunyun and the Succubi, in order to get more resistant fruits and investigate some Succubus Cafe clients' disappearance. After fighting those adventurers, now chamed by the Tranquility Girl, Dust got the fruits and slayed the monster, but not before the Tranquility Girl destroyed his morale with a stream of obscenities.

In order of look cool in front of Komekko, Kazuma's party accepted a request to interrogate the Tranquility Queen, an evolved form of the Tranquility Girl. Although she tried to form a bond with them, not lying since Kazuma brought a lie-detecting bell, once Aqua, Megumin and Darkness gave her and Kazuma some private time, the Tranquility Queen showed her true colors, trying to bribe and later seduce Kazuma, screaming when the latter worked and he grabbed her breasts, in order to defame Kazuma. He ended up killing the Tranquility Queen with herbicide in front of his disgusted party, but not before she destroyed their morale with some harsh truths.

Aqua also planted one Tranquility Girl, believing it was a mandrake seed, in the mansion garden. They eventually decided to move her to the Crimson Demon Village surroundings, and the baby Tranquility Girl ended up planted in Megumin's house garden after Komekko tricked Aqua, planing to eat the little Tranquility Girl once the li'l monster grows up.

Variations

• Tranquility Princess (安楽王女): Bigger and more mature versions of the regular girl that are born once in a century and with a root system extensive enough to cover a whole forest. They try to form a bond with their victims instead of evoking their protective instincts.

Abilities

• Charm: Enchants the target, putting them under the user's control.
• Roots: Once the Tranquility Girl's victim dies, her roots grab and dig their corpse.

• Their design may have been inspired by the Traptrix Sera from the Yu-Gi-Oh series.
• In the novel and the manga, Kazuma's party met the monster on the way to the Crimson Demon Village. In the anime, they met her after they came back from the Village.
• Tranquility Girls and Succubi don't get along well, since they both charm men.
• Tranquility Girls usually ask travelers to move their offsprings to somewhere safe once they are born.
