Tribe (族) are clans of human or demi-human races who inhabit the Parallel World.
List of Tribes[]
Reincarnated People (転生者): Japanese citizens who died young and were reincarnated in the Parallel World by Aqua to slay the Devil King. They're characterized by their black hair, dark eyes, "weird" names and cheat abilities or items they got from Aqua.[1]
Crimson Demons (紅魔族): A clan of modified humans, in order to become exceptional spellcasters, with extremely high Intellect and Magical Power.[2] They're characterized by their red eyes, dark hair, pale skin, weird names[3] and a bar code tattoo in a random place of their bodies.[4]
Beastmen (獣人): A demi-human race with animal ears and tail that are rarely seen.[5] They are known for being discriminated by the society, although they aren't discriminated in the Kingdom of Belzerg.[6] In KonoSuba: Fantastic Days, they live in the Northern Land, working as farmers.
Dwarves (ドワーフ族): A rough, tough and stoic race. Because of expectations about their drinking habit and top-tier weapons, they get Poison Resistance and Smithing skills, becoming skilful because of their longevity.[7] They also grow their beard by sloppiness,[8] and shave them for sanitary reasons.[9]
Elves (エルフ族): A noble and handsome race that just the pure-blood members have long ears.[9] They're divided into:
- Forest Elves (森エルフ): A vegetarian tribe who live in the top of the trees, eating mushrooms and fruits, and skilled with the bow. Because their women use sarashi for archery, they have small breasts.[10]
- Prairie Elves (平原エルフ): A hunter tribe who live in bare lands, hunting herbivores, and skilled with the spear. They are characterized by their robust bodies and a sun-tanned skin, reason why a japanese named them "Dark Elves" (ダークエルフ).[10]
Because of their different eating habits and women's bust size, they aren't friendly to each other.[10]
Giants: (巨人族): A demi-human tribe with human's appearance, but with many meters high.[11]
Half-Dragons (ドラゴンハーフ): A humanoid cross between human and dragon, able of breath fire.[12]
Gods (神族): A divine race from Heaven that preside over a certain domain and territory. They usually looks like as beautiful women with a noble aura.
Demons (悪魔族): An immortal tribe from Hell, who live by feeding on people's emotions.[13] They can look like an human with demonic traits or a demoniac beast, and even as an object.
Devils (魔族): The Devil King's tribe, who are in a war against humanity, characterized by demoniac traits and cheat skills similar to the reincarnated japanese.[14]
Trivia[]
- Contrary to popular belief, Elves and Dwarves aren't rivals. They, however, pretend to be in order to entertain tourists.[9]
- Reincarnated Japaneses usually try to befriend with both Dwarves[8] and Forest Elves (although the last are picky with those who aren't vegetarian or skilled with the bow).[10]
- Although the Giants didn't appear in KonoSuba novel, one of them does appear in the anime.[15]
- The Half-Dragons appear in the Natsume Akatsuki's manga Kemono Michi, displayed as a demi-human race with dragon horns and tail, immense strengh and able to turn into a dragon.
